Trying to Convince a Friend to try an Entheogen with Me

So my friend who is a Buddhist has never done any sort of drugs, not even alcohol or tobacco...He's a very cool cat and I'm trying to convince him to do cactus or some other sort of Entheogen with me...

What Entheogen do you think would be best for him?

How can I convince him that it is totally 100% safe and has no permanent effects on the brain?

He is interested, but needs convincing, can y'all help?

I would just throw some literature at him and let him make his own decision. I would say start with smoking herb, which is a mild psychadelic. Some people just can't handle "it" and I would not wanna be responsible for such a person having a horrible trip

He won't smoke cannabis...But I might be able to get him to eat a cactus or shrooms or something...what entheogens would y'all say leaves you in the clearest and cleanest state of mind? He doesn't want to be "fucked up" or "tripping"...He wants to be enlightened...:levitate:

Buddhist practice one of few religions that actually make sense to me. Depending on this persons level of practice and devotion, drugs could be a distraction more than anything. Then again they may be just what this individual needs. I guess we would really have to know him like you do to have a proper feel for the particulars. I like the giving him some literature and letting him think suggestion.

Taoism kicks ass too...He's a Buddhist/Taoist, like me... By no means do I want to push anything on him, but I can tell he is interested, he's just been brain-washed by all the propaganda...Sometimes he asks me questions like "Somebody told me 'shrooms make your brain bleed, is that true?"

I would recommend lsd for a crystal clear state of mind.


But sometimes all the bullshit "science" about how fucked up it is is ingrained to strongly in a person to allow them to enjoy it.

Some Buddhists believe that drugs only provide false enlightenment though, good luck.

Just got to find out how interested he is and what he expects. If it's something he really wants but is afraid only because of the wrong reasons it may be pretty hard to convince him. As long as he is a reasonable person literature should go a long way. Talking with you and others who have experience should be of help too. If he decides to try something then a bigger question may be what. If he has never done any drug before, matching his desire to the etheo may be tricky. He may react completely different than expected. I'm always careful about introducing drugs to someone who has never done any at all even when they ask for it. You have to take a lot of things into consideration.

I would try to sway him in the direction of mushrooms ayahuasca or mescaline containing cacti, being that they are more known for their cultural use.

Bring up the aztecs and mayans on him. And not that all buddhists are from asia, but let him know that in eastern asia; mushrooms are a big thing. Little tidbits of information like that, and provide some concrete evidence that they are not physically harmful

Salvia and Ayahuasca (I think) are pretty intense. I think you should hook him up with a low-medium dose (2.5-3 grams) of P. Cubensis. Of course, Buddhists are usually known for being at peace, and he may be able to handle something as intense as Salvia very well.

But then I never encourage people to do drugs.
And I would never give people assurances I have no right to make.
100% safe? Who can say that? That's an activists truth. Not a Buddah's truth.


If he shows any more curiosity now that you have already planted the seed, suggest a sublingual salvia tincture. Moderate dose. Great head space. Longer lasting and more gentle than smoking, but short enough to be manageable and non-threatening.
