[12:18] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: cuz school only teahces us to become employee
[12:18] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: not the employer
[12:18] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: they teach us to be smart
[12:18] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: but dont teach us how to let smart people work for us
[12:18] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: they teach us to find job,
[12:18] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: not to teach us how to create jobs
[12:18] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: they teach us to work in corporations
[12:19] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: not teach us how to BUY a corparations
[12:19] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: etc

[12:22] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: school, really teach us to be slave for money
[12:22] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: the "school" word itself, from the latin root, means "to produce soldier"
[12:22] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: even u graduated from HARVARD, for example
[12:22] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: u just gonna be a higher paid slave
[12:22] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: if u dont have financial literacy
[12:23] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: so think far dawg
[12:23] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: think outside the box someimtes
[12:23] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: sometimes
[12:24] theodore: and we want to be the masters of money
[12:24] theodore: not the slaves
[12:24] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: yea
[12:25] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: 90% of the folks
[12:25] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: react to their emotions, not by thinking
[12:25] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: rich people tho, those "masters", dont react, but they think
[12:25] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: emotion such as "desire" and "fear"
[12:26] theodore: well you cant be totally devoid of such emotions
[12:26] theodore: emotions are what make us human. it's learning to control these emotions
[12:27] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: yeah but most people failed to control, they think they control it
[12:27] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: yet it controls their life
[12:27] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: if u dont have financialy literracy, ur emotions would controls u
[12:28] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: for example, people get up to go for work, because they fear of not getting paid, not having the big house or impressive cars, not having this and that
[12:28] theodore: yeah
[12:28] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: so they wake up early, go to work, work for job (yet shcool let us become that)
[12:28] theodore: but that's what a capitalist society is like
[12:28] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: and ONCE we got our paid, our another emotion "desire" comes in
[12:28] theodore: we've become dependant on financial goods
[12:29] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: we go buy things, cars, shopping, spend lotta things, go out to impress friends
[12:29] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: then once they run out of money, the fear comes back in
[12:29] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: yea we dependant on financial goods
[12:30] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: its all become a routine
[12:30] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: fear, the desire, then fear, then desire
[12:31] [김주은]Ꮕ6;제, 또 어디까지: if u pay close attention, most people are like that

Just thought I'd share this snippet of conversation I was having with my friend in Taiwan. Discuss?

Not talking about elementary school I would guess. One is just being programmed and doesn't even have a clue.

I think that a student in school has to take accountability for how they use their time there. If you can, take advantage of music and extracuricullar stuff like forensics or whatever makes you grow. Choose the challenging elective courses, taught by teachers you know are good according to your ability.

Take advantage of what is available, make the most of the "free" primary education, instead of writing the whole thing off as indoctrination. Instead of the negative approach, develop your discernment to choose the good stuff available to you. Some schools will be better than others.

College is a different story.

Sounds like you went to a shitty school.

Also, I don't know anyone who has gone to school and is working as a slave. All of them get paid, amazingly, and the employment is consensual.

On the other hand, if you're pulling the "wage slave" bullshit, you could either not go to school and get paid $8 an hour or go to school and earn $20. If you're gonna be working as a slave either way, you might as well make the most money you can.

Depends on your definition of slavery. Working in ways and at tasks one has no investment in or desire for is a kind of slavery in my book. Many people do this. The govt just doesn't look kindly on the man who wants to live in a teepee on the plains and hunt buffalo and be a nomad.

Yeah, I assume in 90% of the schools, it's 90% how to make you fit in(to) the system. This has benefits as well of course, as you learn how to 'handle' the system and where to pull your gains out of it.
But 50% system-teaching (indoctrination, adaptive brainwashing) would be quite enough imho.
For example, one [big and mostly unregarded] negative by-product of the 'doing it all on you own' is the missing group-acceptance and -orientation we get later in society.
This common root isn't normal in reality. One always ever will group up if one gets to problems.

More room for accurate, pure and valid information, presented in an explicit contextual way !
Perhaps one day, we can put all the indoctrination-shit in a separate class [I wonder how it would be called ], then we get all the other subjects free of it

Going to school isn't just about learning what they teach you at school. Sure, you might forget half of it, but they're really just teaching you to think.

There are some people who seem to have it in them to know how to think from the start, without ever having any obvious stimulus. These people may never be educated at all, but their intelligence will be apparent. This may be environmental or inborn, but either way it's a rarity, and an education (or some lucky life experiences aside from an education) is absolutely vital to developing the ability to think independently and to have faith in one's reasoning.

This isn't to say that all styles of education work this way, but even the most rudimentary schooling will give anyone who has the capacity to realize it the ability to do things which to us seem basic, but which to the uneducated seem fantastical. Math seems useless, yes, but having basic math skills is the sort of thing that helps keep you out of the clutches of an abusive employer, or landlord, or government. And what's more, not only will you know how to do the math, but you'll know it's right, and you'll be able to trust your own judgment in that regard. The truly uneducated don't know what they're getting, and they'll take whatever's given to them, and that's a good way to be abused.

As for education being a way to make you "fit into the system", you have to realize that everyone in a classroom is destined for the workforce. Teach someone to think independently, great, and then teach them how to get a job when they're out. Yeah, it's really depressing that we all have to work for a living--trust me, I know. But we do, and if you don't know how to do it, you're going to fucking starve.

Believe it or not, major CEOs, politicians, and so on went to school too--so I don't know what your friend is going on about with the "They teach us how to be employees, but not employers," stuff. Obviously the employers came from somewhere; maybe they were a little luckier, or a little better at managing people than their counterparts. Oh well, them's the breaks; usually the employers are better at employing than the employees would be, so I don't particularly see what the problem is. Do you really want to work in management in your lifetime? I sure as hell don't; 60 hour weeks at a potentially pointless occupation don't really appeal to me. That's "success" for some people, and the people who can do it tend to wind up doing it, with some notable and regrettable exceptions. While I wouldn't say it of your high-level CEO or anything, your average small-scale "boss" is as much a slave to his business as his employees are.

That's not just the government, that's all of mankind. Your problem isn't going to be George Bush or your local congressman stopping you, your problem is going to be the rancher who shoots you for hunting his fucking buffalo!
