If they were trampling all over it and rippin them right out of the ground, i would be very surprised if they came back next year, or if they did, not in the numbers that were there previously.

Entirely by accident today I stumbled upon a few patches of mushrooms:
These ones were pretty big, but so far as I can tell not active.

These on the other hand I'm not certain of. The soil is obviously not the norm for subs. Are they active?

There's also this funny looking one next to the ones I need IDd.

If you want them Id'd, make another thread in the hunting forum, lets keep this too finds only.

And they aren't active, unsure of genus but they aren't Psilocybes.

Finally found my first "large" patch, i was finding patches of max 20 but i walked a bit further and :eek: about 100-150 i only picked 50 of them, but they were already drying out.
Sorry phone pics but its a 5mp camera on the phone so it aint that bad.
Habitat -

Total haul -


Now i dont know becase most i have found have been fairly small, so to me this one was huge but i havent found that many over a 50c piece size.

Tell me what you think -

In reference to that photo on the left of the middle row -- the mushroom on the left looks like a sub but I'd need to see the stem to be sure.  Was there any blueing?  I'm almost certain that's a sub... that grass could be growing over some old woodchip mulch, which might explain why they are growing there.

I dont believe any of them are P.Subs, they dont have the right colour and no evidence of any blueing.

I have no idea what your problem is mate but you dont give fake ID's out.
Its DANGEROUS and could KILL do you really want to be responsible for that?
Have some respect and yeah people should not trample and rip em out but nobody deserve's to die for that.

I didn't give a fake ID out. I said that I'm not sure and that I'd have to see the stems. It was just my opinion based on the colouration of the caps. My subs have the same cap colouration but obviously those photos are not anywhere near adequate for an ID.

Hibuki, no one is going to give you there patches, because they have worked hard to find them. So please dont msg people asking.
I have given you pretty much one of my patches because i dont get to check on it enough, so count yourself lucky.
But to anyone else thinking that people are going to give up there patches, dont bother. We worked hard to find them and we expect you to do the same. It will be worth the work when you finally find some, trust me.

For the newbies, The things that made me succesful.
Look at the pics on finds in this thread and memorise the habitats, most of the time i find them in sheltered area's either from a tree, fence or a bush etc. Then when ever you go somewhere look around at what looks like to me good spots. Then go back and check them.

Now every sub i ve found i knew it was a sub, i just did a id request to make sure. My golden rule is "If in doubt, throw is out" Not always the case but in my experience it is.
so...
Cap - Tan/Caramel
Gills - Brownish
Stem - White but can get darker with age/weather.
Also Hollow stem <--This is often overlooked but is a good indicator.
And Brusing - Check for blue brusing.

Enough rambling as this thread is meant to be about finds and its getting of track, so show us the Shrooms!!!

Good post Flukes, and nice find! They are biggies, especially considering they are already a little dry, otherwise they would be big and juicy. Good work!

Anyone else think this first pic looks like a death cap? I wouldn't know, but looks a bit like a photo I have seen, except without a veil remnant on the stem.

ok i wont ask again,
and yes ur right, i cant be arsed, when u work alot the last thing i want to do with my free time is spend it all looking for shrooms, especially when u live in an area where its hard to find good spots, im sure there are many guys here who also work alot but they know where to find shrooms

i have actually gone looking but haven't found anything, so its been a big waste of my free time and i dont intend on wasting any more

hey guys, just another quick question. With the stem on a Sub, will it be brittle when first picked or will it be fleshy and bendable?
