You're so lucky you're not dead. Melbourne has poisonous gallerina mushrooms everywhere, they look just like subs and grow in the same places.
You have been very lucky and very stupid.

Jesus christ, very lucky indeed! On another note, I went for a hunt last week and to my surpise I managed to get around 18 or so subs. That was great. I wasn't expecting to actually find any good ones, let alone 18. Had to look really hard for them though.
The season is pretty much over now. Ah well. Time to make my own season with the help of this years spore prints. =D

Nah mate those weren't actually that big. Just average size really. I did find a few monsters though, this one being the biggest for the year. Its not a small hand holding it either.

It takes 2 weeks for the poison to reach your liver and kidney... has it been 2 weeks yet?

Not only is this thread a year old, but it doesn't take 2 weeks, more like 2-4 days.
Amatoxin poisoning can be divided into 3 stages.
* Amatoxin poisoning has a characteristic latent period of 6-12 hours postingestion before onset of clinical symptoms. After this asymptomatic period, abdominal cramping, vomiting, and profuse watery diarrhea (rice water, choleralike) occur. Fluid losses may be severe enough to cause profound dehydration and even circulatory collapse. * * Once this acute gastrointestinal phase is over (usually after 24 h), the second stage begins. Although the patient appears to have improved clinically, ongoing liver damage is occurring as indicated by laboratory abnormalities (elevation of serum aminotransferase levels, prothrombin time). This stage may last as long as 2-3 days. * * Hepatic and renal injury become clinically apparent and may progress to fulminant hepatic failure in the third phase. Death may occur in 3-7 days.

Ahh I miss Melbourne.. even if people are trying their luck at poisoning themselves!! (I'm sick of people going out there, no idea what they're doing and no care to learn.. and just eating shroooomz... gives the whole thing a bad name when stupid people do stupid things) BUT, for those that don't know anything.. but ARE willing to learn - You are Brilliant, shining stars! Keep pursuing knowledge!!
Anywho, I used to live in Selby (Just out of Belgrave), but have just moved up to Bega (On NSW's Sapphire Coast).. and I swear.. it never seems to frikin rain here!!! I think it'd be brilliant hunting grounds around here.. IF IT WOULD RAIN!! But it's always.. such... frikin.. PLEASANT weather.. damn it!
So to all you Melburnians, trip some for me!!
