Thanks for the input danger. I hope you're right, i have seen almost black subs that are heavily bruised and of course aborted pins that are so blue they're almost black, just these ones look crispy and different.

Anyway this bottle of LC sitting next to me here says next year if someone wants to kill my local subs they're going to need to do it in a crop-spraying plane there's gonna be so damn many of them.

i went for my last hunt for the season today, i think this will be last lot of mushrooms my patch will produce this year. there were still a fair few mushrooms there but those pesky little worms had gotten to most of them. i hate those bastards. mother nature is cruel but kind.

anyone else still having any luck?

and also has anyone else find any other actives other than subs this year?

Hey man,

You won't find other species in Melbourne. Northern NSW/South QLD will get Copes and Cubes, but we only have subs down here.

No they are a Northern Hemisphere species, from what i understand. They are a weak species anyway, subs are equally most potent in the world. I wish i could find the taxonomy report that was posted on here a few years ago that rated azures, cyans and subs as being equally potent.

They're 100% up here in NSW, just thought i remembered threads saying they were being found in small numbers down in Vic too.

Subbs are? I'd like to see photos of that. Sure your not talking about Pan Foens?

Yeah. I haven't found them, from memory MJ Shroomer refers to them, i think this site lists them and... yep ever-trusted wiki lists them as being in Australia.

This from MJShroomer's website:

Quote:

Dr. Malcolm Hall (1973), reported the occurrence of Psilocybe collybioides and Psilocybe subaeruginosa from Tasmania, Psilocybe cubensis from Queensland, and Copelandia cyanescens from Australia, noted that at the same time, his investigations of the Panaeolus species were incomplete. In addition, mycologist C. J. Shepherd, along with Dr. Hall (Shepherd & Hall, 1973) listed the following species as mind-altering agents which were possibly being ingested by collectors of Australia's wild psychoactive fungi: Copelandia cyanescens, Psilocybe collybioides, Psilocybe cubensis, Psilocybe subaeruginosa, Psilocybe semilanceata, Gymnopilus spectabilis and Panaeolus subbalteatus. The latter occurs naturally in Australia, is psychoactive, and is known to be used as a recreational drug in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

This page lists various well known mycologists who have collected the species in Australia: http://www.rbg.vic.gov.au/dbpages/fungi/cat/details.php3?id=2115

Yeah, fair enough. Although they may be present, im guessing they are quite rare. They are weaker than the other species, so maybe thats why we dont hear much about them.

Hey folks long time no see
Had a hunt this morning and found the last for the season with my patches, no worms they were healthy but not many and all mature.
Have a nice store of dried but still a sad time of year when the season comes to a end

Anyone else feel jibbed by this season? :frown:

Maybe it's coz I am working fulltime and don't get to go hunting as much, but I just felt as if it never really took off.  Oh well, count down til next year I suppose.

I actually thought it was an alright season, but they have died off pretty early like last year. Luckily Ive been addicted to hunting this year so I got more than enough till next season. I might still go check out a coastal area I know of that usually fruits pretty late but not very hopefull :frown:

Your about a month too late my friend. They are still around, but when you have no idea how to find them, now isn't a good time to start. Unless you know someone with a patch, you will have to wait til next year (season starts around May).
