Need another Buddhist's help!
    #6762531 -

I am a 22 year old philosophy student and I have to interview a Buddhist for a Wisdom Traditions class I am taking.  I'm also a Buddhist but I can't interview myself!  It will be rather quick and painless, just chatting for a while over AIM or IRC or something.  I'll ask your opinion of personal practices, what you value, your opinion on other religions, etc., lot's of fun stuff.  As a philosopher and buddhist and one who has many opinions myself, the convo should be mutually interesting.  Even if you are not a hardcore Buddhist, if you at least have a heavy leaning towards or serious interest in and practice in some ways, that will be sufficient!

I am honestly kind of surprised that the few users I did PM didn't even bother to reply that they weren't interested in helping.  Thank you Icelander for at least replying (that you were not Buddhist and so not qualified) and giving me suggestions on who else I could ask (even though it proved fruitless).  I don't want to whine but come on guys, can't help another Shroomerite out?  Part of my daily practice is to extend help, kindness, and goodness to others, but I digress...

Thank you.

I suggest redgreenvines. No one can understand his answers.

Yeah I would have asked redgreenvines but he is way out there.  Maybe that would be even more interesting though?  I just don't know if I'd be able to decode what he tells me.

Haha maybe I could get Gomp too and we'd have a real good time.

I am not a Buddhist or anything else. But I have studied it and feel that I get what it's about. I don't agree with the religious aspects but feel that it is a workable philosophy for living. If you can't find anyone to help I will be glad to.

I don't agree with some of the religious aspects as well. I'm honestly one who likes to borrow more from a variety of practices and that's part of the reason I asked you, because you seem wise but not tied exactly to one practice and I have enjoyed your posts over the years.

If no one else takes the bite I'll be happy to speak with you. Thank you.

for any one to take me seriously.

I speak redgreenvines fluently, so I can act as a translator for the interview.

Funny, I was just thinking that you've been highly and uncharacteristically experimental with your avatar lately. I think that you'd had the same one since I joined?

i still have that one and you
i hope you have yours too
they are all lovely
but this is more suitable for now
and that is an intrinsic buddhist concept.

I change mine often, and save my favorites.  Some are discarded after one use, as they pinched my toes upon wearing.  (Only comfortable shoes for me, thanks!)

and that is the first noble truth
some avatars will pinch your toes on wearing
(choose even more carefully with bras because the tips can get caught badly between cups)
