does no-one have anything to say on this? Just some people at a university who spent the last ten years showing that people can influence computers by conscious thought alone, even at remote distances... nothing too philosphically or spiritually significant then....

The results are so tiny that there is much room for statistical manipulation, bias and misinterpretation.

In the meantime Las Vegas is thriving on those creating their own reality. (Yeah, I know the New Age double-speak routine here. They ARE creating their own reality, they just subconsciously want to lose.)

Although the variation in consciousness-influenced studies as opposed to random ones is only 1 in 10000, the hugh number of experiments over such an extended period of time mean the results are highly statisticaly significant. You seem to spend your time here preaching objective truth and scientific reason to all the 'misguided spiritualists', yet when some hard science is thrust in your face you disparage it in the same manner as you do other's personal experiences. Maybe because it doesnt conform to your own warped, Swami-esque subjective view of reality?

No experiment is really valid until the observations are verified by other independent lab(s).

Exactly, these experiments replicate many others in different laboratories around the world.

That's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing the info.......

I remember being warned by an elder who stated that if you know a man who is always talking negatively and "damning" everything.....never lend him your tools.....he will break them up for sure. He went on to explain that a man's thoughts project on to the world around him and affects things.

There was a time I was using a wheel barrow to bring firewood into my dad's house. He was angry as usual with me and with the world and I was being careful not to make a mess that would give him one more thing to complain about. I had a large amount of wood in a load and my arms were very steady. As my father came out of the basement door the load suddenly collapsed and went everywhere. Events like this one happen around him. When he shows up, things go wrong. Family pets often didn't like this guy and ran from him.

I recently had surgery on my left elbow. I used an energetic healing on the wound. When I went in for a check up the doctor kept looking at my file to see when I had the surgery. He stated that the wound was healed as though it had had approximately 3 additional weeks to heal. He was amazed.

Sounds like we are in agreement here.

[You seem to spend your time here...
How I spend my time is irrelevant to the discussion. Please try to stay on track.

Please answer all the following questions so that I may better understand your frustration.

Do scientists sometimes manipulate statistics or interpret them in a biased manner?

Do scientists sometimes make incorrect conclusions?

Have some other scientists failed to replicate the Princeton Experiments?

Does the scientific community-at-large accept the Princeton Experiments as definitive proof of mind-over-matter?

Does Las Vegas make hundreds of millions of dollars in spite of mind control?

Which of my statements in this thread reflects a warped view of reality?

...as you do other's personal experiences.
And of course, I made no such comments about anyone's personal experiences in this thread. More tangential "stuff" unrelated to my post.

If you wish to strengthen your point of view, try better presenting your case instead of your emotions.

He went on to explain that a man's thoughts project on to the world around him and affects things.
So negativity makes bad things happen? What if you are loving and trying to affect positive change like Christ, Ghandi, King, Lincoln, etc. ? Ah, you get murdered? Not much evidence showing the world reflects back to you what you put out. Of course this argument and the following two are both flawed. Such is the logical fallacy of using examples and anecdotes to support a position.

I had a large amount of wood in a load and my arms were very steady. As my father came out of the basement door the load suddenly collapsed and went everywhere.
Classic failure to take responsibility for one's actions.

I recently had surgery on my left elbow. I used an energetic healing on the wound.
Why not use energetic healing and bypass the surgery?

Although the variation in consciousness-influenced studies as opposed to random ones is only 1 in 10000, Sounds like we are in agreement here.
A core principal in statistics is that of confidence. 1/10000ths differation form randomness becomes significant if it occurs many times. The expected distribution in this case is random, but the cumulative results suggest to say, a 99% degree of certainty that the distribution is not random

Do scientists sometimes manipulate statistics or interpret them in a biased manner?

Yes. Thats the point of peer-reviewed journals and repetition of experiments.

Do scientists sometimes make incorrect conclusions?

Yes, thats why lots of them research the same things.

Have some other scientists failed to replicate the Princeton Experiments?
probably

Does the scientific community-at-large accept the Princeton Experiments as definitive proof of mind-over-matter?
The scientific community is very slow to accept new ideas like the earth orbiting the sun. Einstein never really accepted quantum mechanics. With results like these that require new paradigms to explain them, widespread acceptance wont come until a provable hypothesis is formulated and shown to be true.

Does Las Vegas make hundreds of millions of dollars in spite of mind control?

Las Vegas makes money be ensuring that they have eg 2% above the odds. Otherwise you would expect them to break even over the long term. These results dont suggest a gambler could overcome those odds by mind control.

Which of my statements in this thread reflects a warped view of reality?

this one: "The results are so tiny that there is much room for statistical manipulation, bias and misinterpretation. In the meantime Las Vegas is thriving on those creating their own reality. (Yeah, I know the New Age double-speak routine here. They ARE creating their own reality, they just subconsciously want to lose.) "

What I prefer is that people respond to the points made, not some generalized vagueness about what may or may not have been said in other times and places. THAT is the point of a thread. What you did is commonly referred to as a "dodge".

You still have not pointed out what specifically I said that presents a warped view of reality. You agreed with most of my points.

I'd say, yes, negativity is dangerous. I was relating what was said to me by another. But I don't see sending out positive thoughts as insurance against anything negative happening to you.

I also think that I'm pretty responsible, just relating an observation that there are a great deal of negative events that seem to occur around my father. Sometimes, too responsible. I'm a diabetic, which is a disease of responsibility---taking too much, or too little. For me it is taking too much, which causes instability and the blood sugar is unbalanced. Understand that I speak ONLY for myself. If someone reading is a diabetic I make no remarks about you. I used healing techniques on myself to improve the condition. I was told that I would be insulin dependent, and that my condition would continue to get worse. I simply looked at the doctor and said, "We'll see."
Many years later, I am still not insulin dependent and most of the time I am able to control my blood sugar levels without even oral medicine, if I stay focused and keep my stress levels down.
Arguing on these posts is pointless to me. Its not worth losing focus which can affect my health.

Surgery? Three doctors said it was absolutely necessary. Through the use of energetic healing I was able to hold off the need for this for over six years and at one point had reversed the damage to where I was able to function without the use of arm braces or medication. It looked as though I wouldn't need surgery and was told this by a neurosurgeon. Then my arms were strained and injured. Surgery became necessary so that I would not lose the use of my arm.

With your thoughts you create your world.....positive or negative. And from personal experience, people who are depressed or negative can often mistake their distorted thoughts/feelings for reality...i'd guess anorexia is the best example of this

I guess no one but me will even consider challenging the title of this thread. It is tough being the lone caped crusader.

Even pretending that some people can affect 1/10000 rolls of the dice, that is a far cry creating your reality. For example, if one were to apply for a job with 10,000 applicants using all the mental power you could muster, you might come in 3045 instead of 3046. Now how is that creating your own reality?

The title should more accurately be: "Nudging your reality a miniscule amount."

ok maybe the thread was a titled a bit provocatively. But do you agree that this research is generally sound, and has profound implications. Obviously alot more work needs to be done in this field but the door has been opened.

I believe that the researchers are honest, well-meaning individuals. Yes, the implications are extraordinarily profound. I just find the conclusions to be somewhat premature. I still read about Cold-Fusion and found the Ponns and Fleischman announcement to also be quite premature some dozen years ago

Am I close-minded to the possibility? No - not at all. As you say, more work needs to be done.

I would like to set something up in a science museum such as the Smithsonian in Washington, where a minute weight is hung inside of a glass bubble sitting on an immovable base. Around the object would be laser motion detectors, so that if it moved even a few microns, an alarm of some kind would sound. Every visitor could try his/her hand at mentally moving the object.

I played backgammon professionally for many years and witnessed outrageous good and bad streaks. I lost a state championship against a weak opponent on on a 1/10,000,000 combo! I always wondered about that! I ran into many people advocating mental dice control, but the bottom line is that intensive study and playing the odds works best in the long run.
