LSD. What's with the lack of info?

Maybe I haven't searched hard enough or something, but why hasn't anyone ever written a book on the proper synthesis of LSD-25?

Like to the T, every last step that is taken from the first chemical to the last extraction of the final product?

Surely our first amendment rights in America allow us the freedom of speech to write something like this?

Wouldn't it make sense to do this, especially those of us who believe in the cause of LSD? That it will expand our minds, allow us to see the error of humanity and right them, brothers rather than enemies?

I understand that sources for the chemicals can't be released, but why not step-by-step break down the synthesis and application of the LSD to blotter/cubes and even a history of the substance, it could make for a more than interesting read.

Maybe this book is already out there and one of you can point me in the direction of it?

I remember seeing an advertizment in hightimes for a book called "practical LSD manufacture" along with several other chemistry titles. the only book I have about it is called " Acid Dreams: the history of LSD, the 60's, and the CIA" which is an awesome book, but says nothing about synthesis.

Practical LSD manufacture is the Uncle Fester book. I've heard only negative things about this from actual chemists. His methods are either outdated or impractical, or just completely wrong in some parts. Most of it is re-written from other sources. He has a whole chapter about the production and farming of Ergot. Most chemists seem to laugh at this because an acid chemist is not a farmer. They buy their ET from a trusted source.

One of the reasons there is no one book for this is that there is a lot of debate on methods. Many recorded syntheses are outdated. Of course, LSD manufacture can be a dangerous and incredibly different thing to do. You need a lab settings and a lot of highly watched chemicals as well as a lot of knowledge. Whenever someone asks for a complete walkthrough for this kind of thing the reply is always, "If you even have to ask this question you're no where near ready" and I suppose its true.

If you really are qualified you should have the resources and knowledge to be able to figure it out on your own. There are basic synthesis guides you can read. Its a good way of spreading methods for people who know what they're doing. Everyone needs to read something, but an overall tutorial is only asking for trouble from people who don't know what they're doing. Having said that, the uncle festor book is just that haha. Try to download it, search for the PDF. You're not going to make acid, but its nice understanding at least some of how a chemical you enjoy is produced, rather than it being a mytery.

My understanding, in it's simple form is: You'd start out with ET and convert it to lysergic acid. You can also start with pure LSA seperated via gas chromatography and through hydrolysis with KOH produce lysergic acid and iso-lysergic acid. The iso- would be seperated and also converted to lysergic acid. Then you'd need diethylamine, which can apparently be produced with DEET (pesticide). And then its a matter of combining the lysergic acid and diethylamine, which there are number of apparent ways of doing.

Sorry, I probably came off sounding like I wanted to synthesize LSD. :lol:

I know it's impossible (or atleast relatively impossible) for me to do, but LSD is the most interesting thing I've ever encountered in my life, atleast IMO.  I just wanted to as you said, learn a bit more about it about how the chemical I enjoy is created.
