Sex & Religion

Not clear why there is a spirituality & philosophy forum, and then a Mysticism & religion. it's all the same thing.
Someone brought up the topic of sex in the Shaman Illness thread. I didn't want to throw the thread off topic so here it is.
I'd like to ask people, what role does sex play in your idea of God? The Shaman basically invented sex. When you begin to think about life and love and all that jazz, sex becomes pivotal to our entire existence in this universe. Like the fact that if you stretch your blood lineage back a thousand years, or a million years, all that time was sex between man & woman.
Here is something that disturbs me about the Catholic Church and it's priesthood. The fact that they are forbidden to marry. How can a man claim to know God if he has no experience with Womanhood, the Gate of All Created Life? Personally I have trouble trusting men who lack experience with Marriage & Parenting.
Or what of the Nun who is Married to God. The Monk who abstains from continuing thousands of years of loving unions?
Every once in awhile I meet a person who claims to be abstinent by choice, claiming some spiritual benefit, but I think it's either fear, or them being dishonest with themselves, or maybe they are disfigured or something.
I feel that sex is the most sacred thing of all, and working through sexual dysfunction is sort of the whole purpose of life. Sex is religion, or at least it should be. Don't you think?
Actually, the way I see, it shouldn't be Sex that is Religion. It should be making babies, and raising children. Isn't that why god made sex so fun, and mating? lol
look i'm britney spears now "my baby is my religion" lol

Sex is evil... don't ya know? Sex is a path to god, don't ya know? Sex is a pointless act of procreation of a spcies that needs to die out, don't ya know? Sex is wonderful and children are wonderufl, don't ya know?
Who in the world is right on this one? What I can say is being promiscuous strips sex of any inherent religious value, ala my "excess and minfulness" thread.
also what I know is I haven't had sex or any real intimate contact with a female.
and children are beautiful before we corrupt them.

imo, now is not the time to make more babies, too many parentless children and over populatation are the problem now, we need to adopt kids and give parents to the ones who need them.
than worry about making more babies later on, I don't think we'll forget how to.

alot of people say that. population, why bring a child into this awful world.
that makes sense to most people, who don't know what it's like to hold a baby, or the joy of teaching a child something new.
babies and children are a source of joy, and joy is what this world needs. and in my opinion a person who feels uncomfortable around babies or children, they are just being dishonest with themselves.
also, everybody wants the same thing, we want unconditional love.
your wife may leave you, or your girlfriend treat you like crap. or your friends may turn their backs on you. children are a source of unconditional love.
we all love our mothers, more than anyone. those who say not so are dishonest with themselves.
and, i think we've already forgot how to make babies.
most babies are born by accident. and it is surprising how many women i know who would leave their children behind for drugs, or whatever reason.
i think all the worlds problems can be trace back to the fact that nobody seems to care about the next generation.
or sometimes a man will say, "i'm not financial stable or ready to have a baby" or a girl will say "i want children but not yet"
both these answers are silly. because you are never ready for a baby. and you're always waiting for children, to be born, or to turn 3, or 5, or 10, or 18, or 35
and besides all that romantic baby love it is not important for you to have children it is just important that you understand the pure potential value of them
a human child is possibly the most potentially powerful thing in the entire universe. it's more fun than a video game.
the joy of parenthood is similar to the joy of being an acid head. if you've never done acid, you don't know what it's like. if you've never nurtured a baby, you don't know what that is like either, and you can't imagine it until you do it. and once you do it, you'll find it's most rewarding, unless you have some dishonesty in yourself, or inner turmoil, problems and troubles and dysfunctions.
all those selfish things disappear when you are focused on caring about someone else other than yourself for a change.
same with sex. in sex you are losing yourself, with someone else, to become a third thing(if you're doing it right).
also, the only thing that seperates you from me, or him from her is position in spacetime.
and the only time two human beings can occupy the exact same spacetime is through sex.

Well sex is sacred in religion, and all the controversy around it comes from that, because people use it as the lowers of pleasures, as something cheap and not holy

Sex, Like every other experience in this world, just IS. It is your personal perception which makes it into being holy, or cheap, lustful, or monogamous.

well you can enter someone else's mind/soul/body/mental body without having sex with them. I did it on accident though. I suppose sex would bring you even closer and at that point would become "astral sex"

You mean people say these meanings are given by gods? You need to state this as IMO, or you need to provide proofs.
