Today, I was listening to the radio and heard about the American individual who was selling materials to the Taliban and heard that he might be tried for treason. It wouldn't be the first time American business men catered to both sides of the war to improve profits. Of course, I guess it's different when the government initiates the war rather than jumping in to save the business men's investments.
Anyway, my thoughts ambled on and I rationalized that treason is merely when an individual betrays his country. Inversely then, what is the word for when the government, especially the Amercian government which is created by the people for the people, betrays its people? Is this a fundamental trait characteristic inherit in any form of government so there remains no word to describe it or is that we lack the power to convict a government on such charges therefor no word can be created for that which is mostly impossible?
If what you're talking about exists, it's probably too much of a pain in the ass for anyone to bother with.
It would likely be a fruitless effort unless you were an outside government with more power than the accused.
