How does this guy do this? I mean do they set him up with really thin cables beforehand or something?

You might want to ask that in another forum. This is a spiritualism forum. The only levitation that we are familiar with is through telekinesis. This guy looks like he is an entertainer and might use wires or something.

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

But people are always debunking "mystical" things in this here forum. UFOs aren't real for this reason. God isn't real for that reason. etc.

You can't debunk something that admittedly debunks itself, though.

Whaddya mean? The guy's name is Criss Angel and he has a show where he does spectacular magic tricks. He is not claiming it's an illusion. He's just doing it. I am cause I don't believe he's Jesus Christ or someone with superpowers. Yet at the same time I can't explain how he could do that in front of random people in public places and I'm hoping Diploid or Swami or one of those people can explain how the trick is done.

Stage magicians don't give up their 'secrets.' Other stage magicians don't give up their colleague's tricks either, and outsiders to the profession usually don't know. However, stage magicians like James Randi (The Amazing Randi), like Harry Houdini, are to be credited with debunking/exposing pretenders to the paranormal.

there are a million websites that claim they can teach you how to levitate...it has debunked itself with the phrase such as "ANYONE CAN DO IT"

This isn't how he does it, but it'll give you something to think about:
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parse...p;RS=PN/5354238
Here's an excerpt:
The apparatus of the present invention uniquely overcomes the drawbacks of the prior art systems by providing an apparatus in which the performer is supported by a plurality of very fine, spaced apart wires that are substantially invisible to the audience. To render the illusion that the performer is apparently defying gravity, the fine wires are disposed in a pair of fanshaped arrays which are connected to a performer harness of highly novel design. The wire support arrays are always automatically maintained in a plane extending generally perpendicular to the viewing direction of the audience. In this way the wires can never come into alignment with one another along the direction of sight of the viewer and, therefore, at all times, remain essentially invisible to the audience. Because the performer is always supported by the combined strength of the wires, his safety is assured.

Wow, that is a lot of trouble. Wouldn't telekinesis be much more practical?

Well I mean lots of fishing strings was the first thing that occurred to me too but I mean it's not like he was doing those levitations on his own personal stage where a production crew can design an elaborate setup for him. Some of those even appear to be outdoors far away from any structure.

You know I went back and watched it again and it was interesting to me that in the one outdoor "levitation" which he appeared to be furthest removed from any obstacle or structure he had no spectators viewing it. The next question is are those real spectators or people who've agreed to look astonished and pretend there's no apparatus visible to them but I mean I'm inclined to believe they're real.

the outdoor levitation trick is pretty easily explained... therree is an apparattue strapped to the back of the calf... when deployed, the apparattus extends backward behind the leg to the ground and provides support for the levitation... the apparattus is hidden by the foot during the levitation, and it undeploys as soon as the weight is lifted off of it... it can clearly be seen from behind during the levitation, so the magician will either make sure no one is behind him, or he uses an accomplice to block the view of the apparattus to anyone who might be standing behind...
the people in the video are most likely accomplices

I'm not buying that explanation. I mean what David Blaine did ok, he only came up off the ground about 4" and he always put his back to the crowd. But this guy rises like 2'. Did you even watch the video?

Ok. Well I guess the whole thing could be faked real stupidly, just getting a crane overhead they don't show, paying staff members..I just thought the explanation might be something clever that's all.
