The subtle irony is making me itchy. Herpes maybe? I should have spent the extra 50 bones on that last horse.

Swami, you're the only one in S&P I can see packing a truck with explosives and heading for the infidels.

For a Wiccan, your 'seeing' needs lots of work!

The President of the USA DID or DID NOT say that God told him to attack Iraq which has resulted in many tens of thousands of lost lives?

Swami DID or DID NOT actively protest The War through writing letters to Congressmen and newspapers?

I'm inquiring if you are desperate, not saying you are.

That is still a flame. Framing a personalism as a question is still a personalism.

Is this hypothetical AIMED AT NO ONE, acceptable because of a question mark:

Random Poster: "Are you that much of a fucking asshole and child molestor, to say such a thing?"

Answer me this: the President of the USA DID ir DID NOT post in S&P?
I don't know if you put out that much of a protest effort, and if you did then that is a great good. But what do trucks full of explosives and infidels of my Swami-daydream have to do with the Iraq war?
Are you trying to steer my thoughts towards something?
Willingness to die for a fundamentalist conviction needs to have nothing to do with religion.

Swami is a persona you created. A persona which seems perfectly willing to blow itself to smittereens (permanent ban) if it can take some morally unjust people with it, it seems.
So the analogy is not particularly farfetched.

I never accused you of being a pedophile! I don't get it!
It just looked odd to me that you seemed to try contaminate my thread in roughly the same way as Trendal's. I don't think "swami being a pedophile" equates to "swami being desperate" and, mind you, desperation is a perfectly normal and healthy emotion.

A personalism is not a flame.
And asking if you are desperate is not a flame nor on the same level as inquiring whether you might be a childmolestor.
Why do you bring child molesting into this discussion?

I don't get it!
What don't you get? You said we can be abusive as long as it is framed as a question. I disagreed.

A personalism is not a flame.
Whatever... "He who makes the rules breaks the rules."

And asking if you are desperate is not a flame nor on the same level as inquiring whether you might be a childmolestor.
Not the same level, perhaps, but a flame nonetheless.

Dance all night if you want to. I asked a legitimate question and then you make an inappropriate and erroneous personal observation which added nothing to the discussion except to satisfy some vengeful need .

As much as I would like to see this continue, let's all attempt to have this thread stay on the topic of splitting the forum or not.

I was totally on-topic until flamed by a mod. I would PM an admin, but would be likely be ignored if the past is any indicator. Where better should I address the issue?

The issue of "along which line shall the split occur" is somewhat irrelevant.  Just like the Pub and OTD, posters would choose for themselves the forum environment they prefer.

It is pointless to argue the differences between the two hypothetical forums.  It is also pointless to bring old grudges into this thread.

Let's have a nice, clean discussion of the pros/cons of splitting S&P, no hitting below the belt, no personalisms, etc...

To your corners, when the bell rings, come out pro-ing and con-ing!

As I stated, there should be the 'No Question" version and the "Question Everything" version.

What sayest thou?

"No Question Version"

RP1: I saw a UFO last night.

RP2: I saw one 10 years ago. I was on DXM and shrooms and it was cool!

Swami: :lipsrsealed:

"Question Everything Version"

RP1: I saw a UFO last night.

RP2: I saw one 10 years ago. I was on DXM and shrooms and it was cool!

Swami: What you saw was a mylar balloon floating over a swamp reflecting Venus...

"RP1: I was a UFO last night"

He was?  Wow!  What was he on?

Yes, I agree with the Kumbaya/Debate split, but that still means overlap in topics.

Yes, but don't delineate the topics else this discussion goes nowhere. Leave that up to the Forum participants.

Or we can start 'The Unicornery'...

The Kumbaya/Debate split seems pretty much right on. If there is a topic in the Kumbaya side that someone feels the need to scrutinize it would be plenty easy to make a similar thread in the debate side. One thread could be flowers and pats on the back, and the other thread could get into the (ir)rationality of the claim.

Spiritual = Kumbaya
Philosophy = Debate

Might have to come up with some different names though.

Now, now, keep a lid on the fluffy stuff, Snuggle.

I think the topics will eventually become split along the lines of S/P, with a little crossover for the scientific/spiritual types. (Like me.)

The best name suggestion I've seen so far is:

Philosophy and Rationalism
Spirituality and Mysticism

I don't really agree with this. I find the clashes between people using logic and people using faith rather interesting, and to split them up would possibly take away that element.

All will be revealed in the upcoming S&P poll I think.

"koombaya" is used to put people down, dont kid yourself
"fluffy" is used to put people down, don't kid yourself

There is an atmosphere of hostility in S&P that drove spirituality in the defensive and philosophy became evermore offensive.
Even in this thread it's very clear that spirituality is looked down upon. Many spiritually inclined people don't post there anymore and some say they should be put in a "koombaya" forum or post in the Pub.
No. it's their playground too.

I'm in favor of creating two forums and I believe there will be more harmony for all involved.. unless your philosophy depends on putting down people of the "other side"

Ravus: it's interesting in one part but too many people get hurt and it's just about all Spirituals who end up with their third eye punched black.

I agree, but apparently this aspect which I find interesting also ends up making certain people butthurt. So I'm willing to concede to such people their own forum where they can have their little safe haven while the rest of us seek the truth through rational discourse.

No, it's clear that cowardice disguised as spirituality is looked down upon.
