As judged by someone who's seen as much of your S&P posts as I have(as well as quite a few of them in this forum).

Well I took something along from a thread with Swami that ended rather abrubtly which I shouldn't have.
I *am* curious as to why Swami wants to split the forum and how he sees it though.

I know. But stray too far off-topic and I am guessing this thread will get shut down. I would really like to hear input from posters and mods about this issue.
Thanks!

I know this is cynical, but I GUARANTEE it will happen. Bookmark this post for future reference.
The debate forum will be non-problematical as long as ideas and not personalities are discussed; however, the non-debate forum WILL break into debate. Why are there thousands of Christian splinter groups? The CORE teaching is love and forgiveness, but people get caught up in the minutia.
Example:
Thread: Chakras
TS: Let's talk about how to activate each of the seven Chakras.
RP1: But in the Buddhist tradition there are 13 Chakras.
TS: No, let's talk about how to activate each of the seven Chakras.
RP2: But don't we need to know how many there really are before we can activate them?
RP3: I heard there were nine. Who here has directly experienced and counted them?
TS: This is MY thread you Fuckwits! There are SEVEN Goddammit!

No, your prediction is inaccurate: you forgot the repeated requests for links from each opposing poster!
If a debate breaks out the mods can remind them that they are on the Spirituality and Mysticism forum, suggest that they start another thread on the Philosophy forum, or move the thread to the Philosophy forum. No biggie, baby!

Indeed. Disagreements among the faithful can often be even deeper than those they have with the skeptics. And without some sort of common standard of communication like logic, it simply degrades into a shouting match, rather than a debate. For this reason, the S&M forum will have to be heavily moderated to keep the people who preach their oneness with others from ripping each other to shreds.

You're right on that, because it won't nor can ever be a non-debate forum. The emphasis will lie on direct experience and exchange rather than on rationalizations and taking posts apart.
Two strategies, two forums. Likewise there will be Spirituality on the Philosophy form.
Right now Philosophy suppresses the growth of Spirituality. This is how many view it. Time to split them up I'd say.

So it might look like this:
Thread: Chakras
TS: Let's talk about how to activate each of the seven Chakras.
RP1: I believe there are more, but whatever you say.
TS: First, you must visualize a light pouring into your crown chakra...
RP2: OK.
RP3: Yeah.
RP1:
RP4: Anything going on here?
RP2: Not really.
TS: Hush and listen to ME.
RP3: I'll be back after lunch.
RP2: Later dudes, I gotta watch some paint dry.
TS: Then move the light down your spine until your kundalini rises.
-
-
-
-
TS: Where IS everybody?
RP5: There is a major debate on the other Forum and Swami is getting his but kicked by Wiccan_Seeker...
TS: Really?

We'll see. Personally I believe it won't but you might be right. Logic isnt working too at the moment, not for many Spirituals.

Swami: on one hand you're saying the forum should be split, on the other hand you keep asrguing that the Spirituality side will be doomed IF there will be a split. Which side are you on?

Philosophy starts with the "fact" that there is nothing and tries to reason up to reality and past it.
Spirituality starts with the "fact" that there is something and tries to reason back to reality and below it.
They are two very different things, though they are slightly related. I've never really understood why they were one forum.
Just try the split out, see how it goes. If it fails, change it back. No muss, no fuss.

1. There are no such things as 'believers' and 'skeptics'. It is all relative to the subject matter.
2. I want the Forum split so that folks will see there are not 'good guys' and 'bad guys'; 'sweet folks' and 'meanies'.
If the experiment succeeds, I can enjoy debating with much less chance of being singled out.
If the experiment fails, it will become obvious that I was NEVER the problem in the first place. The problem is, and always has been: people becoming attached to their beliefs. The real joke is those folks that complain the most, generally believe, "I am a spirit having a human experience. I am not my possessions. I am not my body." Yet they believe they are their beliefs and do not see the irony.
That is the root fallacy and the source of their pain. I may be a catalyst for change and hence - discomfort, but not one person has been truly harmed by any of my posts - EVER!

Actually ALL beliefs MUST come from somewhere. Logic is needed for any belief even if the logic is flawed or stops short.
Example: 90% of the world adopts the religion of their parents and/or surrounding culture. These people get their beliefs from Authority. When peeled back to the first layer the answer is "Because that is what I was taught and I trust the people that taught me." They need look no further.
Others want to know how and why the priests, sages, teachers, Rabbis, etc. came to the conclusions that they did, so do not stop at the same point in their questioning as the previous group.
