Hue, you are an advocate for the ego being a useful tool as am I. You have advocated corporal punishment as a last resort. You hold no double standards here is right. I wasn't reffering to you.

I brought you up when I remembered you said these guys enjoy it after I watched that black guy beat the white guys face in. I was wondering how much the white guy was enjoying it.

I personally don't have a problem with double talk. I understand how it can happen when we shift view points.

I only call people on it who preach against it when it serves them.

When individuals stop using it to ding someone in debates, I'll stop being caught suprised by them when I see them do it.

It probably comes down to what Ice reminded me of. Violence is a part of the human nature just as more enlightened states are and we are here to explore and experience it all.

Please, go back to enjoying this topic for all interested. I don't want to spoil the fun for anyone. Like I said in my first reply. My husband loves watching that shit too. I love and accept him to no end. I don't think he or any of you are bad people for it. :heart:

I have seen UFC, but I do not watch television as it promotes passive attitudes towards learning. Interactive learning is much more healthy. I do admire such skill, but once you've seen one fight you have seen them all.

No brain damage here, but I did risk it. Just as many of those on these boards risked their health by ingesting drugs.

Hell no, theres so many people i would love to see fight again.
some people just have a thing about them.
Its like watching ur favorite tv show.
U watch these fights and u get an eye for the stuff, u see stuff that other people
dont do, its like an art.
U see things and u dont believe wat u saw cause there where executed so good.
Problem is there is alot of fights now adays and its true most are the same.
but every once inwile there is a show, someone that sticks out to u.
then u love watching them fight.

It's because UFC fighters know one thing - smash the shit out of the other person

if we were talking about chi masters, the fights would be 2 seconds long

ufc heavyweight punches chi master, chi master redirects his energy, breaks arm if he wishes to

and that's why chi masters don't fight in the UFC.

It doest show in that video but the smart/very skilled keven delivers a very devestating
punch that is described early in my post. its a perfect example of wat a bruce lee
punch was.
he springs fowward exploding that well tuned body. his body was made to do that.
watch the whole fight. it was a pretty big deal casue the russian was undefeated
at the time and had a devestaing roundhouse kick that knocked out any and every
opponent he faced.

I hope you're not implying that it was Fedor Emelianenko [by your use of the word Russian] under Kevin Randleman getting pounded. Nobody does that to Fedor. That was Cro-Cop, and he's Croatian.

Btw:

"chi" is what results from a harmonious connection between mind and body.
People look at is as some "special force" which it is so to speak.
These people just don't understand.

A punch is more than a punch.
The true power of a punch is the twist in your waist, the step in your foot,
the whole tightening of your leg, combined with the totality of all components of the body forming together in a precise manner producing a power that is much more than that from an unexperienced practicioner.

That is chi.

It's a force that is unseen so to speak. It's the power starting from your toe, pushing up your leg, flowing and moving your whole body foward so slightly. That power generated then moves into your abdomen and then it twists producing even more "thrust".
Then the arm extending out, exploding all the generated force in your fist.

My old Sensei, a master of Aikijiujitsu was quite adept at affecting another's 'chi' he literally dropped me flat numerous times with one finger!  He also was a retired career cop and warned me that these techniques were unreliable, especially with people under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs. These techniques affect the nervous system of your opponents, as such they could not be relied on if the nervous system was altered in function - sometimes even a very angry opponent would not respond as you would like.  He had various anatomy posters in the dojo showing such things as organs, nervous system and skeletal structure and a full sized model of a human skeleton which he would use to show us how joints lock up with various techniques.  He impressed upon us that there is nothing magical about the martial arts, it's all bio-mechanics, psychology and controlling nervous system functions (where possible).

There is a huge variance among Martial Arts styles and instructors. To achieve a black belt in some styles is not that hard. I searched for a very long time to find a style that seemed worthwhille for actual street fighting. Also many students don't have a clue and think that martial arts movies are the real thing. Two bit instructors feed off these types and often they are the most successful schools. The real thing is usually not very showy, often scary to practice, and you rarely get to use it.

We put up a slightly larger boxing type ring in our club. Our instructor told us to invite other schools and boxers, wrestlers, ect to come in and spar on saturdays.  After the first few weeks it was just us again. Boxers and wrestlers were the tough opponents usually. It is a very effective style. If you are interested in checking out the principles of this style. If you can find them, get: Tao of Wing Chun Do Volume One part 1 and 2. by James W. DeMile. James DeMile was the heavyweight boxing champ in the Navy when he met Bruce Lee at a Demo. DeMile outweighted Bruce by 100 lbs. Bruce ask him onstage so DeMile  tells it, and proceeded to pummel him with out being hit. :grin: James is a very smart guy, well educated and a hypnotherapist.  The first book is theory and the second will give you basic techinque. Unlike many martial arts books you can teach yourself the techniques from the books alone. Check them out and let me know what you think.  The other guy on the cover was my main instructor John Beall. They both still teach in Seattle Wa. as far as I know. The styles are evolutionary and my have changed somewhat from the books. But the principles will remain the same.

Oh by the way, sounds like you found one of the good ones. :thumbup:

Remember folks, a Chi Master would rather spend his days impressing 5 students rather than a million people; would rather make $40K per annum rather than $1,000,000; would rather write a book telling people what is possible rather than demonstrate what is truly possible to a huge audience.

Did you ever see that clip of the ref getting KOed "accidently" by that boxer? They show it often because it's so sweet. Can you just see me and Hue in the ring and you being the ref.  :evil: :box:
