So, according to Hue, the white guy on the bottom getting his face beaten in is enjoying it huh?

Like I said, I don't get it.

Ha.. No I'm sure he's not enjoying getting his cranium pounded in by some steroid-jacked angry gorilla with yellow hair.

But the enjoyment and thrill he takes in fighting and winning outweighs the fear of such prices that he could pay for if he isn't skilled enough to win.
Otherwise, he would not step in that ring.

I suppose it is just simply harder for some to understand than others. You have to have that little "Warrior" in you to really grok this. These are professional fighters who engage in such combat for a living, and just like anybody else with any other job, they've accepted the quirks and downsides that come with their profession. They're competing for reasons higher and much stronger than fear of getting a boo-boo on their face.

For those of you want to see someone practice the highly advanced martial art called "Psychotic-face-stomping":

Wanderlei Silva

This man is possibly the most popular fighter in MMA. Because his fights are nothing short of entertaining.

Just noticed this one.

The reason men are becoming "pussies" is because they realized it stupid to spend all your time becoming a tough monster. Seriously, one good bullet to anyone's head, and they're dead.

If anything, women have less power now than before. Before they could vote, they would make damn well sure they had control in the house, and now you have more domestic violence and abuse than ever before. As to your money argument, women consistently make less than men still; regardless of just HOW much they were fucked over now.

Fractured facial and rib bones and the mental redardation Ali has suffered you call "boo boos"?

Isn't this really more about male ego dominance shit?

It's funny to see peeps like you and FW so into this when you guys post so much about ego transcendance.

Warriors huh? I thought warriors fought for causes. These are just senseles brutal beatings. Nothing is being defended or won accept ego stuff.

I don't feel sorry for the guy getting beat. He asked for it. If people wnat to beat the shit out of each other in a mutual agreement because they enjoy it then so be it......live and let live.

Does anyone here feel that these competitions glorify senseless violence?

Where does violence fit in with a civilised society? How does it serve it, besides being entertainment sport? It does trickle out of the sporting arenas.

Remember the story of that 15 year old boy who was tied to a fense and beaten to death by some bully kids at his school because he was gay.

That could've been anyones best friend, nephew, brother or son.

Do you think mixxed messages are sent to kids when they watch that stuff and see it being glorified, cheered on and supported?

mixed messages- well that's someones(parents, maybe) fault,if people can't teach their kids that you don't hit people ,that it's not entirely the kids fault....

My son???!!! I ain't that old. My son is 16. That picture was when I was 35. Now I have short hair and it is a little grey. Don't be fooled as I am a very intense person in person and on paper. I am very good at relaxing and handling stress so I can seem relaxed. I just bought a new scanner and I have been scanning a lot.
Swami: I just realized that you are VERY seriously into raquetball to see my picture and get a raquetball message from it is insane.

Fractured facial and rib bones and the mental redardation Ali has suffered you call "boo boos"?

No. Nice try though.

I'd like to add that Boxing, which is what Ali participated in, is considered the most dangerous fighting-sport there is. MMA is a different story. The reason why boxing comes with more risks is becuase it's simply just hours of two people swinging at each other's heads. MMA is more like a chess-game. But this is besides the point.

The more common boo-boos of MMA are cuts, bruises, and once in a while, a broken bone. Broken bones are usually caused by not tapping out soon enough while being held in submission.

Isn't this really more about male ego dominance shit?

If all of the fighters didn't have their natural instinct for domination and testosterone levels for aggression, they would likely be the ones watching MMA as a vicarious releasement for their similar genetic traits that they share with fighters. Or maybe they would watch Oprah Winfrey instead. Oh, by the way, did you see that one episode last week...?

It's funny to see peeps like you and FW so into this when you guys post so much about ego transcendance.

You simply WON'T understand this until you gain the insight that MMA is an actual, real SPORT, like any other, that is entertaining for many men to watch and for others to compete in.
The ability to be aware OF our egoic consciousness does not equate the loss of instinctive drives.

Warriors huh? I thought warriors fought for causes.

The Latin root for the term "compete" means to come together and agree, to seek together. Competition is all a part of LIFE. If you actually watch these MMA shows, you'll see the sportsmanship of the fighters. They'll shake hands or touch gloves before the fight, or after every round, and usually after the fight. The two corner-groups always meet afterwards in the ring to shake hands and give respect to each other.
Not only will you see such sportsmanship in MMA, but just about any other competition in the world.
And furthermore, if all the best fighters in the sport lacked the motivation and personal goals, causes and spirit, they would not be the best, and they wouldn't have lasted long at all.

Does anyone here feel that these competitions glorify senseless violence?

Where does violence fit in with a civilised society? How does it serve it, besides being entertainment sport? It does trickle out of the sporting arenas.

Again, you won't understand it at all until you stop percieving it as "violence", and rather as a sport. There IS a difference.

I can spar with my friends, and both they and I know it is NOT violence.

You either:
A)Have too much estrogen in your bio-system
B)Had certain experiences in your early life that negatively colored your views of full contact fighting
C)Simply don't want to change views/Are stubborn
D)All of the above

Nice glazed over intensity...heh

Where does violence fit in with a civilised society? How does it serve it, besides being entertainment sport?

The training that goes into that violent sport is very useful for developing discipline, self-reliance, and a few other things you've likely heard on commercials from the local gym.

The threat of bodily harm and death is one reason why it takes one of stout heart and mind to enter the cage. Of course the act of fighting is primal and that is where the thrill and excitement comes from. The amount of emotional and physical strength that MMA athletes have to do what they do is exactly why they are warriors.

Dominating someone through raw physical combat is one of the most intense and rewarding experiences i've ever had. I look back on many fond memories, but having my hand raised to the cheers of a crowd after giving my opponent a thorough beating in boxing was nothing short of divine.

Nice try at what Skorp? I am seeking understanding here. In such sports, bones get fractured and Ali suffered some permanant head trauma.

I was referring to the severity of the beatings.

You called them boo boos.

If those are boo boos to you then I now understand your use of the word better and can begin to better understand why you can handle watching it better then I can. Thats all, relaxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If I totally desentsitize myself and look at those fighters as objects then I can handle it.

However, I don't want to live with that level of desensitization ever again. When I did and was, had to be during my childhood to deal with, I too beat on people and thought nothing of it.

Raising a human being now whom you all have to share the world with, I don't want to set such a desensitized example like that for her. I've been raising her to be sensitive to other peoples feelings and to be compasionate and gentle.

Maybe what is confusing me is that many of you here that are really into this sing another tune on the board.

FW once called a reply I made to him violent. I didn't think it was, or feel it was myself. He said it like it was something was wrong with me, gave these in depth spychoanalytic profiles of me and like I was being abusive towards him.

Why isn't that same scrutiny held up to these guys?

Skorp has posted stuff against physical child abuse.

Maybe the rules change if the participant is willing. I don't give humans enough credit to know when to turn it on and off so easily.

So now I remember how to handle it. Desensitisation and objectification of people is how to do it.

Now I am just confused by the double standard here.

Whatever.................

Icelander, again, I don't want to judge, I want to understand why this is glorified, enjoyed and supported in todays world.

I'm listening to peoples replies and hearing anyone out who wants to share to help me see it from their eyes.

I will just read them and not ask anymore qustions or say a word.

I don't care to judge, it serves no purpose.

Re: Ultimate Fighting Championship [Re: Swami]
    #4508181 -

My god its one of those posts!

This is a post where people can go on and on since theres so many factors.

Where to start? bruce lee.
It was his idea that made him so popular.
he practiced this so called mma back when noone did it.
It tournys people never made full on punches with gear and stuff
they were trained to hold back so to speak.
he was a believer in true fighting such as mma before there was mma.
but even in mma groin kicks didnt make someone very popular but wins the fight most
the time. One of bruce lees favorite target was the groin as it was probley the most
effective attack at taking someone down.
He faght in such underground tournys when he was alive and dominated cause
of the way he looked at fighting.
today that is the view of pretty much every fighter there is.
His main theory was being a well rounded figther "no style"
theres too many factors in fighting to have certain moves.
use these moves as tools.
more artillary for ur army so to speak.

"chi" has to do with mind and body.
People look at is as some special force wich it is so to speak.
These people just dont understand.
A punch is more than a punch.
The tru power of a punch is the twist in ur waist, the step in ur foot,
the whole tightning of your leg producing a power that is much more than an
unexperienced practinioner.
that is chi
its a force tahts unseen so to speak. Its the power starting from ur toe, pushing up,
leg moving ur whole body foward so slightly. That power generated then moves into
ur abdomen then it twists producing even more "thrust".
the the arm extending out exploding all the generated force in ur fist.
like car wreck. the car drives just fine till theres something stoped right in front of
it. it just wants to go right threw.

I hope this makes sence. im just gunna throw shit out since ive been studying shit
like this for a long time.

Someone posted a video of keven randlman beating down on someone trying to
say raw power is wats being shown or some shit.
U have to understand that that poor russian on the bottom was out right there.
It doest show in that video but the smart/very skilled keven delivers a very devestating
punch that is described early in my post. its a perfect example of wat a bruce lee
punch was.
he springs fowward exploding that well tuned body. his body was made to do that.
watch the whole fight. it was a pretty big deal casue the russian was undefeated
at the time and had a devestaing roundhouse kick that knocked out any and every
opponent he faced.
someone else posted about abbot. he was a real fighter in world with people that used
styles.
his style was experience!
tank abott = bruce lee
see, people see tank and think hes just a biker dude that throws punches.
NO, this man is smart. hes got muscle under that fat.
he can bench 450 pounds for christ sakes.
he was back in the day when "ground and pound" was the style.
it was like the strat of alot of poeple cause it was so effective.
It was kool but to make it more "fair" rules where put in to dull down the
insanly brutal strat, fuk they could headbutt.
now adays people start out with this mind set wich means alot of really good fighters
bruce lee's dream in reason.

Oh yah i just remember people talkign about gracie jui jitsu.
its tools to become a well rounded fighter.
say a cop gets wrestled to the ground?
"damn i knew i shoulda learned jui jitsu's" thats wat the cops thinking.
lots of law enfrocement learn it cause it will save thyre life and they know it.
also its just a TOOL in the tool box guys.
People where arguing about it bneing ment for the ring and shit.
it was MEANT to be able to get close to the opponent making strikes less efficient. Point said if u know jui jitsu and ur openent doesnt, if u get close they are done.
u know wat they are going to do and can just dominate them regardless of size in
reason.
Problem with it is u practice in ring, with padding and shit so alot of moves have
been designed for the ring, this fighting style is alwasy growing as people are descoving
more manipulation/moves.
this was a mistake that Renzo gracie made.
he just got a surgery done in his leg, some major tendon or shit.
but they where having fun and ended up getting in a fight with some peope.
his skills took over and he dove at one.
i mean he did wat hes been training to do but when his knees hit the pavement
it wasnt pretty, needless to say he had to have the surgery done again.
but of course hes a tough guys and u can fight threw this injury.
i woulda hated to be the dumb fuks that got into a fight with a bunch of gracies
hahahahahah

um i dont know wat else.

of course flame away cause i can chat about this shit forever.

I hold no double standard. Man is an animal. Violence is a natural quality animals have. It can be a healthy outlet for frustration if channeled properly. It can be destructive if channeled improperly. It is not bad. It is not good. It just is. I have accepted violence as a natural part of myself and embraced it wholeheartedly. To be human and do otherwise is being dishonest with ones self. You may be sensitive to it because you had a bad childhood experience. I have never had such an experience so I never made the association. I see it as a tool, and an internal drive that can be used to be a more productive and sensitive person.
