That is the mood of a warrior. He is geared only to struggle. He uses his controlled folly. Don Jauns words were for warriors. The average guy sees everything as either a blessing or a curse. So for him everything matters.

I see life as a marketplace with everything offered on the table, you pick your blessings, pay for them and walk away to another table.

but you could have easilly stayed home too

I didn't mean to criticize your "light and funny" posts Icelander. To tell you the truth I truly like them as much as I like the entire non-serious feel of the S&P community. My previous post was ?heavy? because I wanted to show that spirituality and philosophy are important and they try to answer some importat questions we all eventually face. That?s all.

Peace!

questions like what?

-Why do I die?
-Why do my loved ones have to die?
-Why am I here?

how about..

-Because I'm old.
-Becuase my loved ones are old, or got hit by a car.
-Because I'm not there

OldWoodSpecter, let?s say you don?t have any relatives left except the family of your own. Even then, you find yourself lucky. You are married to a wonderful woman, who you love and who loves you in return deeply and passionately. You have two great children, who you also love and make you a proud and a happy father. Life is good and you are happy and content.

Then one day, you get a phone call from the local hospital. The doctor on the phone is nervous and can barely explain to you that your wife and children were seriously injured in a car accident a few hours ago and that there was nothing they could do about it. They all died.

Once you would ask yourself ? and trust me you would ? why had they died, would you be content with your answer of ?they got hit by a car?. Would you leave it at that?

Not to worry. I know you weren't criticizing. Like I said everything is important. Yet can anyone say for sure one thing is more important than another?  So why make it be anything. It will be light and heavy, according to need. Today I am light. Tomorrow I may be deadly serious. So watch out. :rofl2:

family attachment carries paint with itself. where there is emotional pleasure and love, there is pain too.

If one expects to live without any emotional pain, then he can't chose the path of a family life.

Yes, I would ask myself that question. But that is because I would be under influence of strong emotions. People don't think clearly while under emotions. When the emotions would pass, I would probably accept that death is normal.

You are trying to make a point by using an highly emotional state as an argument.
That's like me trying to prove existence of unicorns to you by saying, when you are drunk you may easily believe in them.

i used to be worried about everything all the time. The world was just shitty to me. I didnt know what i believed in if anything. I was truly lost.

Then i gained insight. One might say delusional becuase the insight would be assosiated with LSD. But one does not know that this insight...that happned the first time i ever ingested LSD...was fueled by previous insights while i was sober and didnt know what was happening to me untill i reasearched and found that it was my Kundalini Awakening and learned how to manage and recodnize it. These led to my desire to ingest psycadelics and psycadelics blasted old realizations out the door and reinforced all the new realizations i was having.

These realizations such as "nothing matters in the end" are the exact same as my realizations of "everything matters right now". Thats the thing....nothing matters in the end...so make everything good now...because thats all you have...and in the end nothings matters because you are here now...you will be there in the end and then that will be now.

it matters
it matters not

its all the same

peace

2nd Sphere from top, on left - 'Binah' - Understanding. Metaphysical in significance it is. Part of the Macrocosm (GOD) and the Microcosm (Humanity) - part of the Image and Likeness of GOD. Embrace Understanding, it is part of us and we are part of it.

It doesn't matter what one would be content with, it is the only perceivable truth regarding the matter. Acceptance of every aspect of reality as it occurs is true spirituality, in my humble opinion, not creating unsubstansiated, baseless beliefs to try to comfort oneself after one's emotionally-bound expectations of reality aren't fufilled.

The majority of people don't seek the meaning of life or a deeper explanation to the nature of existence until they are severely traumatized in some way. Before this happens, they go on living their happy little life's, consciously ignorant of suffering, illness, violence, death and other darker realities of life. But in time these realities force themselves into every man's psyche, destroying the myth of life as a happy fluffy fairy tale where all things will eventually work out and we will live happily ever after.

And what meaning is there to be sought? While I certainly agree that actively participation in life and an understanding of the nature of meaning are essential for one to begin to open up an experience of higher consciousness, meaning is completely defined by us and exists entirely within ourselves. It shall take whatever form it shall take and there is no objective meaning for it to resemble.

You
You see, we are debating all sorts of questions here in a light and funny way, thinking they are of no importance, but the truth is there comes a time in each of our lives when we need to address these same questions in a profoundly serious way, because we don't have a choice anymore.

Or there isn't such a time. It doesn't matter. It'd be nice if everyone sustained themselves within a heightened sense of awareness and understanding, but the time that you assert must surely come for all certainly isn't evidenced by the current state of human existance.

Quote:
ld I live if everybody I loved is dead? Why has God allowed this to happen? Why all the suffering? Why are we here? A person in pain is looking for a meaning. He is looking for answers and he's not finding these questions amusing.

A person in pain is experiencing pain because their expectations and demands of reality have been unfufilled. Reality has altered in such a manner as to no longer fufill these demands (such as seeing a loved one breathe again), and reality opposes what you expect of it in such a way that it simply must be accepted - it is a riptide that carries on regardless of how much you struggle agansit it. One either ceases to struggle agansit reality, fully accept it, and allow reality to define itself, or one updates their mind with further delusion that further seperates one from the flow of reality (belief ).

So the person is forced to "search for meaning" in order to reprogram their mind in such a way as to no longer suffer as a result of unfufilled demands of reality. Someone who is simply accepting of reality and all of its variables, states, and progressions never has to face this and never has to enter such a state of creating for themselves such serious meaning to life. One who directly perceives reality and its finer and subtler energies will never suffer as they do not oppose reality by unnecessarily defining it and expecting results from it or becoming attached to it.

Quote:
Sure we can and should live our lives instead of just talking about them,

As long as one is technically alive, I wonder if it is possible for one to not live their life....  :smirk:

Quote:
These facts force us to strip down all the illusions we are left with and reevaluate our lives. That's why it matters.  That's what Philosophy and Spirituality are all about.

Eliminating illusions and expectations and demands of reality are important, from my perspective, but it is impossible to declare that they are necessary and that it "matters". Updating illusions and comforting oneself with belief lie opposite from "philosophy and spirituality".

You have a good point here. The vast majority of all that we concern ourselves with exists as abstration that only exists within our own minds. I do not personally feel that a good portion of this abstraction is necessary or beneficial. These abstractions seperate ourselves from a conscious experience of the awareness of the present moment. Our experience of reality while subjected to abstraction appears to be diseased and incomplete, without essence, dead.... :frown:

i'm curious if reflection and abstraction are independant:
sometimes reflection's creating abstraction (the example you give)
other times destroying it (like science)

Ramblings:

Reductionism: If God is real then I'm in some kind of Hell (No. that's a subjective point of view.).

If God is real then I am very afraid. God wants me to be afraid? (subjective again).

Objective: Respect, God requires respect.
Respect what? The Law. What Law? "Come & go as you choose and if we get what we give then we will eventually give what we want."* (*that's my reduction; open to question)
--------------------

God loves his children, Adam & Eve. Riotously creative they are. She wants compliments and gives them profusely (everybody deserves compliments) not knowing how they hurt. If she's supposed to get what she gives then why does she hurt. why do I hurt.

Eve is her own authority. Adam knows how to please her. Adam and Eve then are God, unto themselves and for each other. and they know the law very well and ignorance is source for amusement.

The Law is both liberating and binding and don't you know we chaff at the bit.

Who changes law, that's what I want to know.
And how do we protect innocence from the marauding callousness of Gods toughened by ages.
How do we protect man from God, and God from God.
