Schapelle Corby - Guilty

"11:41 a.m. She's guilty, has until next Wednesday to appeal.
11:38 a.m. The Judge has been reading (screaming) for two hours. He's not done, but it's all over for Schapelle. Shorter version: She must be onvicted because drugs are a menace to Indonesia and police are more credible than civilians."

No big surprise, but still awful. The extent of human compassion often seems to be unfathomably limited.

Meh, it's only 20 years. She'd probably get at least that in the U.S. also, eh?

It's terrible. She's not even guilty and even if she was... 20 years for carrying flowers! And for real, America is no better. It's fascism, pure and simple.

It sucks.  Really bad.  But she did have a couple pounds of weed in her possession in a land that deals harshly with drugs.  What else did we expect them to do  :frown:

Awful. :nonono:

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

To me I am mixed about this for several reasons.

It's really depressing that no one seemed to care when this happened to 1000s of people in thailand, and that most people only care because she is a pretty young white girl.

However, since people usually only care about injustice when it happens to pretty young white girls, some positive change could come about from this. If it isn't the straw that breaks the camels back, it's close.

Thinking about it though, it's really the best outcome possible. Every indonesian legal expert said she was going down for at least 20. At least she didn't get death or life and activists and legal experts can try to work backwards now. I think it's ridiculous and in my gut I feel it was a set up, but at least she didn't get death and at least her legal team can now work backwards.

However, the trial was a fucking sham, the majority of evidence that could've proved her innocence wasn't allowed to be collected and presented and she had a lawyer that's never been to court before.

I really hope things work out for her, I think they will. But than again I'm a optimist.

By the way, thefakesunra, I fucking love your avatar
