Go to this site. It has a Aldous Huxley speech in two parts. It's in Real Audio, but still, it's a Huxley speech. Here are the direct links if you have trouble finding them........

I haven't listened to most of this so far, but he seems to be talking a lot about psychedelic drugs. Can any of you Shroomerites direct me to a program that converts Real Audio to mp3?

Thanks for these links.

There's lots of programs out there that will convert real audio to mp3. Problem is you probably have to pay.

You can do it the long way by using windows sound recorder to record the real audio file being played, just need to select stereo mix in the sound recording options.

Real audio is evil.

today I downloaded "realcodecs11.zip" and the Tara(spelling?)-plugin for windows so now I can play realaudio files in winamp  :thumbup:

do a google search with the names I posted and you'll find what you need :cool:

You know, the real player download really isn't that bad. It's small, it really doesn't get in the way. Real player has too terrible of a reputation at this point.

Does it allow you to convert Real Audio to mp3? I need to put this and the Kesey file that I linked in the Pub on disk for someone.

Learyfan, do you happen to keep a "library" of all these mp3 files on your pc? If so, it may come in handy for this site if they ever decide to create an online mp3 library for listeners. Maybe you could make a backup copy on CD for safekeeping.

I don't have any other Huxley talks online.  However, I can point you in the direction of a place to obtain them.  Get Soul Seek at www.slsknet.org .  Download that and search for Aldous Huxley.  Eventually, you'll come across a two part interview of Huxley by Alan Watts.  Other than that, I have some Timothy Leary mp3s posted  here.  Also, I have a post in The Pub of Ken Kesey and Allen Ginsberg. 

Enter:  I wouldn't say I have a library, but I do have plenty of these things either on my PC or on disk.  I will gladly help The Shroomery if it needs some files for an online library.  I think that would be a terrific idea.  Imagine you could have Leary, Huxley, Watts, McKenna, Kesey, Heard, Hofmann etc..  I would love to see that happen.  Are there talks of this now?

Cool. I made a suggestion in the Website Feedback forum under the thread "What future updates...". I couldn't talk Anno into it though. He shot down nearly all of my ideas.

Oh, that sucks. It would be incredible if The Shroomery had that. Why he did shoot that idea down? Not enough space?
