Re: Do you think children can be raised responsibly in a "drug environment"? [Re: Adamist]
    #3602154 -

Interesting question.

Hanky and I have a 6 year old daughter. No drugs are ever consumed in front of her, in fact, she has no idea what any of it is. At a friends once, a woman started packing a pipe in front of my daughter whom I removed from the situation. She'll find out about it all in her own good time and when she comes home with questions they will be answered honestly and openly.

Also, I very rarely indulge - and when I do - she is not around. There is ALWAYS someone 100% sober and in control at all times and I think that counts for alot. It's when both parents are completely off their rockers and devoid of any responsibilty when problems occur.

Our daughter is very bright, well adjusted and independant and extremely creative and artistically minded. I wouldn't have her any other way.

Anyways - just my POV for what it's worth.

I can definitely relate with these points here.

But how would you feel about children around people on drugs, while under clean vibe supervision? Children dancing around with family/community, some of them may be on drugs...

A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

Define clean vibe supervision for me so I can think this over.

As a general rule - I do not like children around people under the influence.  Reason being is that I have seen households with parents who are continually zoned out or whatever and the kids have next to no upbringing or the parent loses control etc.

Define clean vibe supervision for me though and I'll respond in that vein.

The Clean Vibe could never be FULLY explained

For it exists in a dimension beyond measure...

But for the sake of understanding, we say it's

Those who seek to initiate Reality manifestation, in both the micro and macro cosmos

Those who know that they are a part of a purification transformation

Those who are aware of the mass-consciousness grid

& Those who understand karma

Without the psychedelic induced mind...

Reaching levels of spiritual and intellectual inspiration and understanding through chakra-prying, and conscious-awareness, meditatively, not substance-ly.

this is what i am working towards, and am almost there.  Im always almost there.

I guess - for me personally - that I do not like kids around drugs/psychedelics whatever as even the most mellowist can go wrong.

People have bad trips, freak out etc. and I just don't think kids need to be seeing that. They don't understand whats going on and it could be a potentially vitally upsetting moment. Also people can freak out and do crazy things in the search for inner peace whilst using diff things and I know personally I would never put my daughter in a situation where any harm, whether physical or psychological could come to her.

I hate to be busting your ovaries here, but.....
this is impossible, unless maybe you raise your daughter in a giant bubble like Bubble Boy or something.

In refferance to the general consensus on how children should be raised.
There is not a single enviornment suitable for children.

Well, maybe a concentration camp.../jk

Perhaps I should have said 'knowingly put my daughter in a situation where potentially.......'

i dont have kids so I cant even comprehend that yet, but I was raised around pot (nothing else) and was taught from an early age the differance between use and abuse. And I think of myself to be a fairly productive member of society :mushroom2: :mushroom2:

I'm trying to read the whole thread before really replying, as people likely will cover most of what I will say anyway

you wont be bothered to change a child's dipers as well even if you're stoned

If this is the case, then you shouldn't smoke weed ever anyway. If smoking weed has the potential to make you so lazy that you would not even change your baby's dirty diaper, then you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near weed whether you have kids or not.

And indeed, here is one!  THANK YOU.  Pot doesn't make you lazy.  Pot actually motivates me to do MORE :/.  Perhaps I am weird and have issues of my own, but...  I have *no* problem doing tasks at hand "under the influence".

And hey, maybe because they weren't my children (rather very younger siblings), but I found watching kids of greater than five years of age is immensely less difficult than watching kids of less than five years of age.  IMMENSELY.  Kids of five years and older can generally be trusted to read / listen to music / play with toys / watch tv all by themselves with a minimal amount of supervision.

Now, I'm NOT (that's NOT) saying that because of this you can hit level 3 and 4 trips...  By no means.  But really, you're likely experienced enough by the time you have kids that you can pop a few caps (level 1) or smoke a bowl now and again...  So long as you're not getting to a point more than you can handle.

It seems many people (and I've only read the first 50 posts or so, yet) seem to think for some reason your kids seeing you or being around you after smoking marijuana is going to scar them for life...  But they totally ignore alcohol because it's accepted.  Oh, but pot is ILLEGAL they scream - so is driving over the speed limit, and it's likely you and your parents did/do it .  But it's accepted.  Who is it accepted by?  "Society"

When I have kids, I hope to be in an enviornment where it is accepted that I may be toking...  Certainly I'm not blowing smoke in my kids' faces and acting like some beer-weed fratminded tool...  But I've been with (either alone or nearly alone) kids from ages of less than one month all the way up to age 10 while "under the influence" - and never had a problem, because I am responsible.

I grew up in two different households.  My dad and my stepmother - nothing went on there but alcohol, and mostly just dad, though big brother (that's me) would partake at dinner as well...  Stepdad and mother - semi-open pot-smoking house.  The bongs and other paraphenelia are kept out of the young ones' sight, partaken in a room they don't have access to, and well...  I must say that honestly my stepfather and I have spent a lot of time interacting and watching those kids whilst we were high.  I don't think we did any worse a job than if were were sober...  I think we did a BETTER job.  And I doubt the children were "freaked" out by us.  Meh.

I've got pages to read yet ^_^.  More later, possibly.

well, I cant read this whole thread right now, so I'll just toss my 2 cents in and answer the main question here....

"no"

kids dont need drugs in their life. Once they reach 16 or so I would say they can be introduced to them in a responsible manner.... but drugs (especially psychedelics) bring things to a whole different level that kids just dont need for a healthy childhood.
