Drug Test Your Teen Dot Com
    #2212943 - 01/01/04 06:44 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I had to post this cuz I'm dying to see the reaction to it. :stoned:  :stash: There's a link at the bottom.

Teen Ushers in the New Year by launching web site that encourages parents to drug, alcohol, and tobacco test teens at home.

"Home drug testing really works", says 17 year old Linzy Hildreth, and she has created a new web site (www.drugtestyourteen.com) to urge families to implement a home drug testing program. Linzy is sick of seeing what drugs do to teens, and she is doing something about it.

When a drug test may be waiting for them at home, teens have extra incentive to say 'no'. "Parents need to know if their children are using drugs, but most don't like to imagine that it could be 'their child' using drugs." says Linzy Hildreth, a 17 year-old girl who believes the pluses greatly outweigh the minuses when it comes to drug testing teens. "Studies show that while only 18% of parents believe that their teens have tried drugs, 53% of teens admit use of drugs. By drug testing at home, parents are not only confronting the problem but also are doing something about it." To help parents and teens, Linzy has created a website (www.drugtestyourteen.com) where parents can learn more about teen drug use, get information on how to talk with their teens, and can even purchase drug tests-- all in the privacy of their homes.

Most would agree that no topic is more frightening to parents than teen drug abuse. Each year thousands of lives are lost or ruined by this nationwide epidemic. Linzy contends that when teens and pre-teens use drugs, they will usually deny it to their parents. On the other hand, the same parents who say they want to know everything going on in their kid's lives often avoid such subjects as teen sexual behavior, underage drinking and drug abuse- hoping these issues will simply ' go away'. The fact is- they don't- and putting on blinders to the problem never resolves it. Now that the technology is available for parents to get honest answers, she believes they should not be afraid to take advantage of it. Teens may object to being tested, saying that their parents don't "trust" them. This is understandable, but a teen that has overcome the peer pressure to use drugs should be proud and anxious to prove it to their parents. Executives, professional athletes, truck drivers, and policemen have to prove that they are drug-free. Why not teenagers? Fearing drugs and their effects on her friends inspired her to approach her laboratory professional mom with the idea of offering easily used and inexpensive drug, alcohol, and tobacco tests to parents of teens.

Linzy has already known kids who have been involved in terrible car wrecks, been expelled from school, received jail terms, and even died as a direct result of drug and alcohol abuse. Even her own little sister became involved in the 'drug scene' at the age of 12! She says adults would be amazed if they knew how easily teens can obtain drugs and how many actually use them, even some of the so-called 'goody-goody' kids that no one would ever suspect are using drugs. John P. Walters, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, speaking about teens who use drugs said "If our schools and parents were to utilize recognized, successful intervention techniques, including drug testing, we would be able to identify these youth and get them the counseling and treatment they need to turn away from drug use".

Linzy is convinced that these tests give kids another reason to 'say no', one that their peers will understand. These tests are extremely accurate, FDA approved, and parents can see the results in just minutes. They are easily performed at home using a small amount of saliva or urine. With their home tests, there is no more wondering if your teens are drinking and driving. If a parent suspects alcohol use, they can know in just minutes by swabbing the inside of the mouth. The street drug test screens for THC (marijuana, pot, hash), Cocaine (coke, crack), Opiates (heroin, oxycontin, morphine, opium), Amphetamines (speed, uppers), Methamphetamines/mdma (ice, ecstasy, crank, crystal), and Benzodiazepines ( t-bars, valium, librium, xanax)- all of the common drugs of abuse today. Tests for nicotine are also available, so that you can know for sure that your kids aren?t smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes and alcohol really are gateway drugs.

When parents have drug tests in their home, it opens the lines of communication, and helps parents and kids to start talking freely about the problem. Linzy hopes that everyone will make their household policy "NO DRUGS" and let their kids prove it. She believes testing is a better way than smelling their kids breath, checking their eyes, looking through their clothes, or listening in on their phone conversations. Parents won't have to sneakily invade their teen's privacy, because everything about drug testing puts the subject out in the open.

this is sad man...just plain sad. Our society today is just so stupid! it makes me want to puke how they think that they can actually control people and what people choose to do in their own time.

"Show your kids that you care!"

"We all want to trust our children, and a child who not doing drugs should understand your need to 'be certain'. "

"A teen that is insulted that you 'don't trust them' is a far better than the possible alternatives such as addiction, incarceration, or death? "

"When your kids were toddlers, you took whatever measures were necessary to keep then from running out into the street. Now you can have the tools to prevent them from doing something equally as dangerous. "

I have mixed reactions when I see things like this.  My initial thought is "How sad that some parents have such a shitty relationship with their kids that they would resort to drug testing them."  But right behind that comes the thought "Well, if a parent has a child who is uncooperative and a troublemaker then that parent has every right to test them."

And I have to laugh when topics like this come up and teenagers start bitching about 'their rights'.  I'm sorry but kids don't have the same rights as adults, and for good reason.  I am 100% in support of legalizing all substances for use by adults.  But I don't think that 14/15/16 year old kids should be using drugs of any kind.  Let kids be kids and enjoy their youth.  Teenage years are about developing  the skills and values that will define who you are for the rest of your life.  And there will be plenty of time to experiment with and enjoy drugs once you are an adult.  And personally, I think drug use at a young age does a lot of damage to a persons ability to develop into a responsible/healthy adult.

Now having said that, I can already hear the teens starting their cries of rebuttal.  But save your breath.  I've heard it all before.  In fact, I made the same arguments when I was a teen.  We all do.  Its part of the process of being that age.  And most teens will sneak around and try things that they shouldn't but that doesn't mean that we should condone the behavior.  Its all part of the learning and maturing process.  And a good parent will keep the lines of communication open with their kids.  My parents did with me and I never tried any drugs (except alcohol) until I was 18.  Unfortunately, bad parents will just resort to something stupid like drugtestyourteen.com!

^^^^Jesus-fucking-christ!!!  I turned into my father!!

IMHO responsible drug use at young age is better for a person to develop into a responsible/healthy adult than parents doing drug tests.

If I wasn't using them and got tested any ways. I would be mad. I think she just started it so she could be a crank whore and momy wouldn't think to check her. Just my thoughts. Thank god my mom was and is cool with it.I think thats why I did it less. I didn't have anything to say "see I can ,like it or not" I remember times were I would be tripping and she would be right there making sure it was going alright.

damn, this girl obviously doesnt understand human nature

drug testing works quite well at increasing the communication gap, aids in building a distrustful and resentful relationship

Quote:

When a drug test may be waiting for them at home, teens have extra incentive to say 'no'.

I would say NO, to my parents and home testing, "boot my ass out mother, do I steal from you to support a habit, do I cause a serious disruption in the house, am I into alot of trouble all the time? where is the trust, do you lie to me so often that you feel you cannot believe what I say?"

I actualy had this conversation with my mom, it opened her eyes to honesty and respect.

Quote:

"Parents need to know if their children are using drugs, but most don't like to imagine that it could be 'their child' using drugs." says Linzy Hildreth, a 17 year-old girl who believes the pluses greatly outweigh the minuses when it comes to drug testing teens. By drug testing at home, parents are not only confronting the problem but also are doing something about it."

"yeah son, I smoked pot and did a little coke, wasnt that big of a deal really, if I can be honest enough about it you can as well. I'd rather know because I prefer the truth, why would I be pissed off about honesty as opposed to picking you up at the jail dor drug charges, well actualy I wouldnt be picing you up there,I'd let you ass rot and when you were released you would need a place to live because if I cant trust you not to lie to me I cant trust you in my home"

what happened to communication, did parents forget what being young was. dont they remember what they did? I was never lied to by my parents and because of that I was much more honest, my mom used to street race, steal gas from work trucks, smoked a little herb, hung out with bikers and even cruised in a stolen car for a few months. all my father could do is lie, thank god I didnt want to be like him!

Quote:

'Learn to talk with their kids', "son, heres a cup go piss in it!" DTYT.COM is a comercial site, the little bitch just wants to make Cop of the year, excerpt from siteThis is me, Linzy, 17 year old  President of Drug Test Your Teen. I am urging ALL parents to randomly and frequently drug test their teenagers. is she so concerned because he 12yo sister is turning tricks for rock or because she dont get no money if teens dont get tested! find me some usable information on that site that shows how to open the lines of communication with kids!

Quote:

Most would agree that no topic is more frightening to parents than teen drug abuse. Each year thousands of lives are lost or ruined by this nationwide epidemic.

"Mom and dad, I have AIDS, unfortunately the $10 a week you give me for an allowance wasnt enough to buy my school lunches or get insurance and gas in that POS car you got me, I couldnt even get the radiator fixed so I started giving blowjobs to you friends for $20 and well I came back positive for HIV" sound a little worse than 'I smoked a joint pop' what ruins a life quicker.

Why doesnt she want parents to assist their children in making well informed choices and to accept the responsibility of their actions.

Quote:

drug testing doesnt give you hones answers, it give you results, pos or neg, want an answer, then ask a damn question! If you teen objects to your popping him/her with a piss test maybe it's because they think you dont trust him/her, could it be because you dont, because you never spent the time to teach them about honesty, responsibility and respect, as a teen my response to drug testing to prove
they are worth trusting "prove you love me, respect me and trust me by asking me if I use with out blowing your stack or sending me to rehab, then I might piss in you cup, lie to me and I will piss in a cup but it will be your coffee!"

Quote:

Executives, professional athletes, truck drivers, and policemen have to prove that they are drug-free. Why not teenagers?

because drug testing isnt an excuse for responsible parenting? maybe athletes are making 5+ million a year and because of the contract it's mandatory, I never heard of an executive being drug tested, they make the policy they never submit to them, kinda like parents.

Quote:

Linzy has already known kids who have been involved in terrible car wrecks, been expelled from school, received jail terms, and even died as a direct result of drug and alcohol abuse.

life happens, regardless of the drugs, I havent died and I was using since a very early age, oddly enough I have never been arrested, expelled or had a terrible car wreck, could it be because my mother and I talked about it when the subject of drug testing first came up, she was open to my response and accepted it as the truth, if she didnt believe me she never let on, when I busted her searching my room I asked why and she gave me an hones answer, she didnt find anything because I respected her rules "dont bring it in my house", she found my bacardi when I was 17 and made a rum cake, it was on my dresser, my punishment was to eat some cake and deal with it because I knew better than to bring it in the house. well mom, at least I didnt hide it from you

Quote:

Even her own little sister became involved in the 'drug scene' at the age of 12! She says adults would be amazed if they knew how easily teens can obtain drugs and how many actually use them, even some of the so-called 'goody-goody' kids that no one would ever suspect are using drugs.

I knew a goody-goody, she dealt drugs and gave crabs and clamidia as a bonus for your purchase, I thought she was a bitch because she wouldnt let me have any!

Quote:

John P. Walters, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, speaking about teens who use drugs said "If our schools and parents were to utilize recognized, successful intervention techniques, including drug testing, we would be able to identify these youth and get them the counseling and treatment they need to turn away from drug use".

kinda like the drug recognition that the cops are trained with, I've sat and talked with them at work when I was tripping or stoned? wow they could really tell how messed up I was, or if they really were able to tell they didnt seem to care, much like the cops that have let me go for small quantities of weed or the ones that have said, they have more important things to worry about than potheads.

Quote:

Linzy is convinced that these tests give kids another reason to 'say no', one that their peers will understand.

I can say that regardless of testing, I've heard that one knowingthat the guy was BSing because he just prefered not to use, I think linzy is just a greedy bitch thats trying to feed on parents fears of drug use to show there is no reason to trust their kids.

Quote:

When parents have drug tests in their home, it opens the lines of communication, and helps parents and kids to start talking freely about the problem. Linzy hopes that everyone will make their household policy "NO DRUGS" and let their kids prove it.

opens communication like "fuck you bitch, I'd rather be dead than take that test for you" how does forced compliance breed anything but resentment, wanna set a no drugs policy, do so but set down punishment and make it severe enough to let them know your serious, then if it's violated, stick to your punishment. or you can simply talk with your kids and their friends but do it with the respect that a young adult deserves, after all thats what they are, capable of making decisions both good and bad but with a little love and understanding they are more likely to make wise decisions becuase they know the penalties are.

Quote:

Parents won't have to sneakily invade their teen's privacy, because everything about drug testing puts the subject out in the open.

that just takes the fun out of parenting, searching their room and swiping their rum, smoking their weed and when they discover it missing and you've said nothing to them and are waiting for them to ask about it. Thats the fun part. kids subjected to that kinda sneakyness begin to think they smoke too much and quit on their own or maybe the begin to believe in the weed fairy, the one that takes you weed and leaves you some clean underoos!

the view presented are just those of someone that never had to smack down his mother for snooping, nor has he seen the horrible things that occur from irresponsible drug use, they were generated by by a coconut that was taught to make decisions based on his own judgement good or bad and always to accept the consequences of his own actions with out placing the blame where it didnt belong

I urge you all to send them nasty comments in the "Contact Us" portion of the website. Here is what I sent them (was being rather dumb, but fuck them, I don't need to use logic on people that have none.)

Your product is a joke. Drugs are the best thing that have ever happened to anyone. Your lack of understanding towards anything at all is rather amusing. I laugh in mockery of your "products". I think it is very humorous that the same products you sell are also used by people that take drugs to make sure they will pass drug tests. Then again, that is your plan, isn't it? To sell them to everyone.

Heil Hitler, Nazi bastards!

My email to them:

"When I first reached your site, I thought and hoped it was some twisted joke. Alas, after browsing through it I realize you're serious about this bullshit. People like you are the ones that ruin this country more and more every day, that reap the liberties of everyone, from infant to elder. Soon, it will not only be mind-expansion you take away, it will be the ability to dream, then finally to think. I hope you have fun raping the constitution and creating distrust and hatred among families, and I can only hope the next generation of people will care more about freedom than you. Go back to the prison from which you were spawned, and stop trying to drag the rest of us into it.

I only hope one day you realize the beauty of freedom, and how people like you are slashing and scarring its face.

And if you ever finally make a real-world 1984, I just hope I'm not alive to be in it."

Bastards like this make me incredibly pissed off. What the hell are they trying to accomplish? :shake:

This type of harassment can be tracked back to us, and could have legal/civil consequences, as well as just making us and the OMC look bad. Remember the whole teenhelp.org thing, that wasn't exactly our finest hour, and we don't want a repeat of that.
