Personally, I buy these needles off of amazon and just toss them. $8 for 100 needles was easier for me not to flame sterilize or risk cross contamination.

I know some people might not have the ability to purchase them when/if they need them. But for me, this has been my sterile technique. 1 needles per operation. Instead of flame sterilizing, I just switch to a fresh needle.

I use these syringes and so far out of the lot, only one came without a cap and I use it for non sterile water things.

So collectively, its less than $30 for ×100 needles and ×50 10ml syringes.

Slight extra experience but my peace of mind is worth it.


Edit: adding these 5inch long needles for long reachy things like PF tek or LC (I personally use them for LC)

Anything you can stack, you dont want a hard limit to your height, or at least I don't :P

I love my nesco because i cut trays to make spacers and my dehydrator can become as tall as i want it to, which helps if you are harvesting more than a small tub at a time.

I also would fuck myself over with timing and have like 9 monotubs fruiting at the same time, so adequate dehydrator real-estate was my priority

My guess is it's from the outside of syringe. PC'ing them is a great idea.

But are we sure our culture is clean? Test that shit.

How else am I supposed to test what looked like clean mycelium that's uniform on agar aside from putting to more agar and grain? I did both XD I assume I was just sloppy and the needle might have been a contam vector too il PC it later with the syringes next time I Wana try a josex poke xd

you can do a cabin sequester or a brf puck to clean as an intermediary solution, please just buy a sterile pp5 medical grade bulk pack of 10, 15 or 20ml syringes.

Good advice I will do in 2 weeks next paycheck as I'm broke after ordering ffu :rockon:

On another note I already have cabin sequestered the kamodoxbvi once n I just transfered from t3 to t4 doing a second cabin sequester. And on a better note on the t2 plate it has the most teeny tiny plin (it colonized the plate so stupidly aggressive it dryed the agar to a potato chip practically before pin formed so I'm amazed tho il accept it

Im so glad because I was stressing wondering if I just been transferring stupidly aggressive white mold for awhile though now I know it's gonna be good 😊

I did cabin sequestering going back a transfer for the rest of my genetics to avoid the mold on previous transfer attempt and also did it to double make sure they all clean. Every culture I'm cleaning up has been cabin sequestered 2x

Ochras has insane fairy ring knotting like it bouta toss a ring of pins and is blueing 🧐

The other pans I'm cleaning up n in my opinion are not to be trusted to be clean just yet because I been running from mold with the other 2 pans I was working on (fairly successfully il add)

And the atl7 I have no idea I think it's baccy af or is just a stone thrower because of the browning/orangeing fuckers getting dark like some of the worst bacterial contam I've had on a cube culture though unlike cubes.... Atl7 can naturally have wierd pigmentation from what I've been told

I cabin sequestered it and will cabin sequester for a third time if it doesn't look appealing 😅 atp il send it to grains n if it ain't clean il go back to spore for it or back to agar wedge



On another extremely experimental note.

BIOCHAR WORKS FOR SUBSTRATE

I recently made 2 tubs that are colonizing quicker than coir in previous cult with caerulescens

When tubs fully colonized il take a pic n flex or if it contams il take a pic n share n ask for a shoulder to cry on for a sec :hug:
