Should I get rid of the invitro pin before soaking? Or just drown the fucker?

I'd soak em and see if he grows, sometimes they do, sometimes they shrivel up and push news pins :mushroom2: but there's no wrong answer here. If you are feeling like a snack, by all means :hehehe:

I think the general rule is a few burst grains are fine, you just don't want a lot of them. If you have a full quart jar and can see 3 or 4 burst grains but the rest are solid, you're good to send it.

Yo so huskys the first pic I seen kinda looked sketch in 2 or 3 spots can you backlight that petri n give us a pic? It might just be wetness or agar being weird or it could have a few bacterial colonys that r small on the plate unsure without a better pic

On na other note... I think I gotta try pcing my syringe needles next time as all of the petris I made and did transfers to ended up like this one with the green mold.

And the 30 unused plates have no molds or bacteria so it was my technique.. I tryed josex pokes at first n Idk just yet tho suspect those to have failed on some grains I isolated them because of the petri fails

Then I proceeded to flame sterilize needle n use it to transfer from old plates to new rinse repeat

And I can only assume that the inside of the needle was dirty and the water getting pushed through on accident or drippage could have lead to contams or maby I was really just that clumsy that only 1 of the 7 transfers I did I didn't contam.

What say you guys I'm trying to learn from this 😁

Kamodoxbvi t3 I fucked  and a control plate to see if the agar attempts where bad though no growths of any kind observed on the unused plate it is also is not wrapped so I'm impressed it hasn't contaminated yet think it's day 6?

Well there you have it I'm only human and this is a embarrassing result I'd like to learn from n change future outcomes of

If you flame sterilized to glowing orange, I wouldn't imagen the inside of your needle was dirty unless there was a chunk of something in there still.

My first thought was,,, did you sterilize your water?

Yes I sterilized the water in 1 ml borosilicate syringes the plunger parts or whatever where not made of the right material and deformed though still was useable and was still sealed though the syringe tips are extra extra extra long long enough to reach the bottom of a pf tek with ease. And I didn't pc the syringe tips I just attached n hit the middle to the ends till orange

You can just draw and push out boiling water 5/6 times to sterilize the inside of the syringe. Keep the water after the last draw.

Alternately, you can pre-fill a plastic syringe with the needle attached, wrap it in tinfoil, and PC it with the needle pointed up.

I usually do the 2nd option.

Since my dehydrator kicked the can, anyone have a reason why their dehydrator is best? What should I get? I might just get another cheap one.

EXCALIBUR 3926TB

:sword:

These things are beasts. I think they just discontinued their older model with the80s aesthetics, id try to find that. Get an used one as well, save some money. Got mine on sale for like 90 bucks.

Also, its made in USA and easy to repair, Excalibur has the parts.

There are legit 80s and 90s looking models in my area as well a 3926tb for 99. Should I get the new one? Or old one? There is also a vintage 4 shelf for 50
