Fiet, try pouring your plates and letting them sit for a week or so before using them, if nothing grows on them you know your pouring process is clean, if not you need to change something in that process. If they're clean after a week and then contam after you make a transfer onto them, you know the problem is during that process. The candle behind the SAB is concerning, as fire moves air quite a bit. Also working directly on the floor of the SAB is a concern as well, get some sort of wire rack to work on.

Hey, that's a great advice thanks.. OK then i will wait a week bevore i do a transfer i have 2 quart jars with LC in looks good too today will post a picture later... My Plates bevore was great so my LC looks also good i highly belive the agar was not PC long enough but will see i will not transfer anything bevore the Week is gone.

Chances are that you introduced the mold.

They are the first thing to die in the PC.

Tell me about your LC.  its not suggested new growers use or make lc.

Take your sample to agar and clean it up BEFORE making lc.

Otherwise you have no idea what you are growing in that broth.

Even experienced cultivators striggle with lc.

Even with a guaranteed clean innoculant.

Does anyone know why mushroom plugs have spiral slots along them

Seems a half plug would work just as well, no?

Is punish tek a bad idea for a sensitive ape strain? Second flush is almost nonexistent and the fruits that do grow are all side pins. There is never a third flush basically with this clone and sometimes it trich's out before second flush, a sensitive culture.

Straw *should* be devoid of the seedy tops, hay will have lots of seed heads in it, which could be a contam issue if just pasteurizing. I remember getting hay instead of straw to mulch garden beds once and ending up growing a shitload of grass as a result lol.

There's a difference between hay and straw

Hay is grass. Straw is what's left over after grains have been harvested. You want straw

Work, sure, but not worth it.

Most teks recommend getting them shredded first. That's a lot of labor. "

You can guy pre-shredded at the store. Even this processed stuff I found a bit too dusty.

Any minor price difference is not worth the amount of labor to make it usable. Straw is dirt cheap already.

For those jars, about 20-30% of the volume, but you have to account for the rootball of mycelium in the center that you cant see.
Pro-tip: I use a massage gun w/ rubber ball on low setting pressed to the bottom of the jar to B&S as it doesnt bruise as much and keeps uncolonized grains from getting stuck around the lid where they become high risk for contam

[Toloco massage gun amazon for those who want one; I hereby dub this Toloco Tek]

Also I noticed you said first shake, let me clarify that if you use liquid culture you can give your grain a gentle side-side shake (or I massage them) to disperse the liquid. That would be your "first shake", at 25% you do your "Second and Last shake" because you dont touch it after that.

TL;DR its ready for a shake, bounce it on your knee
