I have been using Karo light corn syrup @ 3% in my lc's. I don't use lc's so much anymore as it makes me lazy with the agar work, but it sure gives a crystal clear lc.

So if I feed my yeast with short chained sugars and then try to make them eat long chained sugars they give me the same look as my five year old when I tell him to eat something healthy right after having a chocolate bar

I can find karo, but man was that expensive where I'm at

Good analogy

Yes, karo is some high value stuff here. I bought more Karo than I need, I can send you some if you want to try it!

That would actually be super neat, I would have to have it shipped anyway and I sure as hell don't need 1L

Okay so I have a single mushroom that grew super quick and its veil is about to break. I wanted to take a spore print and clone it since its nice and strong and grew fast AF in my environment.

1. How long can I keep a harvested mushroom Un-Dehydrated for, before drying? I dont have any plates but ordered some that will be here tomorrow. If the veil breaks today I dont want to wait until tomorrow to pick it. I want to catch it right as the veil breaks.

2. Making a spore print - if I make a spore print with the cap, i.e leaving it over night to do its thing. Can I still dry it the following morning?

If I harvest today, and lop the cap off to take a spore print, can I keep the stipe in the same area as the cap leaving the print and then clone and dry the following day?

Baby's first steps.

You can leave the cap making a print for 24 hours. Even after that, you can take a sample from inside the cap and clone it. And yeah, after that, you just dehydrate it as usual.

As for the stem, you can put it in a Tupperware, wrapped in a paper towel, and keep it in the fridge. I had no issues cloning after 2–3 days. I haven't tried keeping it any longer than that, so I couldn't really say.

looks crystal clear  i try .3% right know its pressure cooked right know will post soon a pictrue how it looks. but is there no disadvantage because of the low nute level in the water?

Disadvantage, hmmm not in my opinion. Will there be less mycelium, also yes.

i make a lare amount of lc in a quart jar and pressure cooked and after i filter the lc ro water but i use 1,5% LME so i will do it with enogh food know i pressure cooked the whole ja again with the other smaller jars so  lets see how it looks then its litte bit cloudy no problem so its ok as long i can suck up the stuff in my syringe its ok...

Sweet, I just wanted to check on the shelf life between harvest and dehydration. Wanted to make sure it wouldnt spoil by the time I could get it printed and cloned, then dehydrated. Obviously I want to eat it still after I play mad scientist.

is my grain fucked? it's all clumpy in some spots and like, gooey and wet kind of. I cooked it then left it on the countertop for a few hours. I stirred it up with my hands. And then I PC'd it for 2 hours after venting  When it was done I just let them cool down then moved them back into the box that the jars themselves came from. This was all three days ago now.

its not green irl that's a reflection

Sorry to say this but when I zoom in close to the wet spots I can see biofilm around thr grains. Looks very bacterial. Sorry to bear bad news.

Man, see, that's what I thought! Can u circle the biofilm? Also, what do you think went wrong? I PC'd them, the bugs should have been killed, right? Also, can I just
...... PC them again...?

If you zoom in where I circled you can see the ring of moisture around the grains isnt clear, its actually a milky or creamy colour. That is the biofilm.

While I hate oats for the bioload they have, thr PC cycle might be an issue if you are not venting the PC long enough or not running the grain long enough. I personally would start fresh grain and switch from oats to rye or wheat. Something more forgiving.

Definitely do not use those again, your Oats look clumpy, wet, and over hydrated to me with a few different bacterial issues, how are you prepping your Oats? Moreover, I have been stubborn too (in the past) using infected Oats from TS that are riddled with chaff and grain weevils. I can tell you, they are hit and miss, but in your case, more than one issue with those jars unfortunately.  Sorry for your loss, good news is, clean slate, like a brand-new canvas for an artist to express themselves with.

I used to throw Oats in a hot water bath for 60 minutes, boil water, take off burner, drop in clean oats... BAM... in business.

Right above Pasty's circle too.. and definitely wet spot as pointed out.

I know this isn't the confessional, but I had to scrap 25-30lbs years ago of Milo (my fav grain) from a feedstore that I don't mess with anymore.  I'm a composter slash dirty maker fir life, so Outside it goes, to the ground it grows.  I mean, you could clean them thoroughly, and get some of them to jump off, but stalling jars will happen, especially subpar cereal grains.
