Ha watch, you'll end up with a canopy!

When you get some normal coir, the ratio of 1:4.25 is a general start point. Like Dug said, you have to check for field capacity, grab a handful and squeeze- a few drops to should come out.

Hey langten69,

Not hands on experience, but I have been looking into this myself, and recently ordered an LC of one of the varieties. The culture should arrive this week.

The primary plastic that this genus has shown promise in is PP #5- polyurethane iirc. check the recycling markings on the bottom of a single use plastic water bottle, they are usually pp #5.

As for plates if you are using polystyrene ones you will be fine.

I think that the key in testing this will be to have fully colonized grain ready before introducing the fungi, as the fungi only begin to accept less nutritional carbon sources when the highly nutritional medium has been consumed.

This genius of fungi has also been known to infect mamamls as well as cause damage to crops, so the utmost care should be taken during storage and handle.

PM me and I can send you to where I got mine from, or I could send a smash wedge when I start working with mine)

Is applying micropore tape or .22 micron filters worth the added cost during PF TEK cultivations, or does the top layer of dry vermiculite sufficiently protect the contents?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Dry verm layer is all you need.  The verm layer is your barrier.

what is a good grain prep method for making mycelated grain?

i have been using organic wheat berries and did a no simmer no soak trial. around 500ml of water to 1000g of dry wheat berries in a spawn bag. after 5 months of incubation the dry weight was 882g, and 15g of mycelated grain are about equal to 1g strong cubensis.

I found some old plates in the back of my fridge.  I'm getting back into cultivation...does this look acceptable to send to grain?  Prepping some wbs today.

I'm still just a baby cultivator, but my instinct tells me to make a transfer to another plate just to see if its still viable?

or do both, take a transfer and send it to grain.

is my grain fucked? it's all clumpy in some spots and like, gooey and wet kind of. I cooked it then left it on the countertop for a few hours. I stirred it up with my hands. And then I PC'd it for 2 hours after venting  When it was done I just let them cool down then moved them back into the box that the jars themselves came from. This was all three days ago now.

its not green irl that's a reflection

The prints are not pretty, but I did at least get spores off of the caps!

This brings up another question that I could maybe get an answer from here:

If the intent of taking a print is to get a viable viable mycelia isolate, would the following procedure be better:
1. Remove stipe
2. Mist all surfaces of cap with ISO 70%(it shouldn't kill any spores)
3. Peel entire cap, like many French recipes call for with thick skinned mushrooms
3. Place the cap directly on an agar plate
4. Check every 24hrs, transfer any viable candidate hypea to a fresh plate with each daily check

The resulting plates would be the healthiest lineages, as they could put any surviving bacteria correct?

Let it go a couple days , take pics of just the growth and let's go from there

I agree with the baby :hehehe:

Take a transfer to make sure everything is still clean.

If my grains come out wet I shake the jars every 12 hours or so until the grain surface is dry again before I inoculate.

You can start a new thread whenever you want, but during my 2 years here I've only felt the need to do so 2 times and 1 of them was unnecessary

they're still virgins: 2 master volume jars and 7 receiving volume jars. I'm waiting for my plate to have more mycelium, I guess? before nocing the 2 master jars; i had just prepped some grain because I wanted to do some cultivation work and was waiting on cultures
