kinda like asking where to swim in the ocean. Not too far out, be aware and vigilant at all times, and don't get caught in the undertow of targeted marketing andunnecessary product-pawning.
Really any strain is beginner firendly. Any business is *usually* reputable in this market especially if they're a shroomery vendor. People jkust get upset that these kits and systems that are sold are sometimes so overengineered it hurts. I know you're just asking for strains, I would go witha  trusted Shroomery vendor tbh, any.

Thanks! I was thinking I had to toss them, but if there’s a chance of getting something useful out of these I’m going to try :laugh: I’m going to move to bulk, each in their own shoe box. Even if they all fail, I imagine I’ll learn a ton about what sketchy spawn looks like and how it acts.

Im betting that they'll all give you some fruits, and yeah its always worth experimenting imo, that way you can tighten up your process for the next cycle

Working MSS and one spore print to agar but have noticed contam on almost all of my plates.

Some have no myc growth, others have a decent bit. Is this trich? Some of the myc appears to be eating or growing around the contam, but maybe its the other way around...

I want to know if my plates are salvageable or if I have to deep clean my closet (where I keep everything) and toss everything, which I REALLY do not want to do.

I have never had this contam-growth before on plates, but recently had old grain jars that grew smth similar after months of not being used. I doubt that could have been the vector for this though as they were sealed jars.

Lmk your thoughts.

It looks green although it may be color shifted from the blue agar, my guess is that it is trich. Some spore prints are just super dirty.  I would take a transfer from that 2nd to last picture onto new agar to clean it up

I would take the bottom right plate. Labled #1 SP I believe.  The one that actually looks like it was growing good for a little bit. And run it thru a cabin.  A Trip to The Cabin: Easy to Follow Pictorial TEK For Cabin Sequestration


It looks like that thing grew out a good bit.

You could have taken a transfer from the Leading Edge  awway from any contam and see if you could clean it up.

However the cabin will give you the best results right out the gate..just in case it does have more trouble getting away from the contams this will give you a leg up for sure.

what kind of plates are you using and what are you wrapping them with? You work in a SAB?

Should i increase the fae on this tub its has 8 holes total 2 at substrate level the long way and 3 on either side on the ends i have them taped with micropore currently and am wondering if i should open them up by removing the micropore tape.

Why would you increase fae if you're having problems maintaining surface conditions?

i know i was literally just thinking the same thing i have trouble with just litfa but you are right its super dry and if anything i probably should be added more micropore tape not less and it is crazy because when i made the substrate it was literally super wet and it still dryed out now im  misting it with one of those mister spray bottles from like 10 feet up to give it those nice little bubbles on the surface

Yea if u can preferably don't open it often. If u open it the rh drops and takes practically 20/24 hrs to get back up from evaporation.

Unless u got a martha or something goin

You can put some water in the bigger tote to keep the humidity up

Na man we dont need tents for cubes.  You should just throw that thought away if your growing cubes.  Dont complicate things.

The knot looking things are knots. If you leave them long enough they will pin, grow and even drop spores.

I use a SAB, use 90mm PP5 plates from micropose and honestly dont wrap them but tape the edges with clear flexible tape.

Thats most likely the problem and im annoyed because I had resolved to do something about that a bit ago but have forgotten until now.

Would plastic wrap work for plates or should I just order parafilm?
