It looks to me as though its perfectly normal and healthy unless I am missing something.

Can’t decide if I’m seeing grey or fresh mycelium getting matted. That’s all. Dry just wasn’t a problem. I should have been clearer. My bad

Quick question,

So one of my spore plates (p. Natalensis from Eden shrooms) that was taking a bit to show signs of growth finally is showing something but it looks like mold. There seems to be some white filaments but there's also some questionable yellow stuff.

Does this look like I can save it or is it purely mold? There are also black spots of of spores all over that still have not necessarily germinated.

Is it being matted a bad thing and is there anything I could do to fix it if it is?

Not usually. A sign of too much moisture build up or over spraying. I just don’t like beating up the mycelium cause it delays shit.

But if I’m understanding what you said in other posts, you got to put your OCD to the side and LITFA. Constantly opening it just leads to more issues (random pinning and stunted growth, aborts) so rather it be too humid and wait for something else before increase FAE since it’s still progressing.

Okay awesome, I have been leaving it alone basically the whole time, I opened it for that picture other than that it hasn’t been touched. I just keep peaking through the top daily and worrying that my surface isn’t ideal. I know I just gotta let it do its thing and stop worrying lol.

Looks a bit weird but overall looks like it will fruit for you as intended. Just LITFA and the pins will arrive

Is this standing/pooling water? I dip the corner of a paper towel in to wick that kind of thing up if it happens.

Otherwise looks good.

What’s that woody structure I think if I look closely there’s some black spots near on the left is this the mycelium’s defense to fight of what appears for now to be a minor contamination although who knows what’s going on inside?

You will see a triangle on the base that says 'pp5'
Thats polypropylene and the 5 is either the isomer or number of times its been upcycled cant remember which but I should know.

It´s just recycling code #5.
The way it is written here was always confusing,
as PP5 would indicate, that there may be PP1-4 beforehand.
But there isn´t.
It´s a higher quality polymer to withstand higher temps.
So to me it´s just PP, but everybody knows what´s about PP5.
Other polymers have a different number.

I kinda enjoy playing with popcorn. It makes such a delightful noise when shaking the jars...

But mostly because it's just about the easiest thing for me to get at the scale I play. I've always had awful luck with birdseed, and the only health food shop that sells small bags of grain is way across town. Meanwhile I can grab 2 pounds of popcorn from the shop on the corner. It's clean, easy to cook, and works 'well enough' for my needs.

Yes I could get 50 pounds of oats from a feed shop, but most of it would be eaten by insects or moldy by the time I got a quarter of the way through the sack, not to mention just needing to store a sack that size for that long.

And I do occasionally make the sojourn out west to buy a couple pounds of rye.

But yeah. Mostly laziness and not worrying about ultimate optimization.

Is this blueing or something else

I vote blueing

The lil black spots on your other picture are definitely strange. Looks a bit odd around that cluster of them but there are little flakes peppered around farther out that don't look attached to anything, makes me wonder what used to be in that jar etc. Flakes from the lid etc can fall out and do that. Now and then I'd get a little iron spot from metal mason lids that would rust on the side of the glass and scare me.

Worth keeping an eye on.
