Usually, it's the other way around Creon, I've seen this many times with feminized female plants that will self-pollinate themselves and drop a few seeds.  It's not full-on seeding of the plant, I have even had other plants right next to them, and no seeds.  I had one plant years ago that seeded itself late with a ton of immature seeds, but that isn't the normal, that plant went straight to the freezer for B Hash.  Pic below is from a 32 node modular SCROG, check the top of the nug.

To clarify, this a clone from a Regular seed, they have hermie traits too!

Yeah, so NORMAL(Norsk organisasjon for reform av marihuanalovgivningen) has a lot of members that every year toss seeds around Oslo and other big cities, most of them will be taken by the police and some get to flower. Non of those looks like autos to me, that said if they're mostly indica they can still produce some buds before temperature gets too low, but the seeds could be just hemp as well, keep coming back once a week and you should be able to determine sex by looking at the internodes

Feminized seeds are made by chemically forcing a regular female plant to produce pollen sacks right? So I guess feminized seeds is more prone to becoming hermaphrodites :strokebeard:

Either they will have the V hairs (stigma), or mini banana bunches, males will always show themselves first.  It's easy to pull a female thinking it's the banana bunch (calyx) starting when it isn't, just wait to see... the V.

Hermaph female plants are not the only ways for a femail to produce seeds in fact it's extremely common for females if they are stressed at the end of they're cycle or have a longer than normal cycle without being introduced to a male they can literally produce seeds that are almost a clone of the mother plant aka the plant that produced the very few seeds.

Good example I grew a SS haze that lived a month longer than normal n it produced about 100 seeds (this was in a controlled space with no males and no chance of pollen

And also no chance of hermaphrodites pollinating it. 3 other plabts where grown with it in thatspace n they didnt produce a single seed or sack

Could be bag seed could be bird shit seed from dirt weed down 01 miles someplace xd who knows though I do love finding some dirt weed πŸ₯³

Sure, stress and interrupted light cycles can make them go hermaphrodite, but I grew cannabis for 10 years and only one plant went hermie on me and I'm pretty sure that was light getting in during the "night"

Genetics, some can handle stress more than others, it's the reason I go hard on my plants looking for something to keep around. My GDP momma has never popped or even hinted at herming on me, and I've beat her down for many cycles now.  With everything crossing over with EVERYTHING... it's getting worse, back in the day, would never see herms for the most part, rare for sure.  Or if you did, it was at the end of the cycle, and you don't care anyway.

I had one plant produce a single seed. It was grown inside and no other plant had any seeds. I figured it was some sort of survival thing that even though she wasn't pollinated, it was such a perfect environment, she made a seed.

This. It's a survival mechanism and produces a incomplete seed. It's the female half n it can produce plants just they are more unstable from what I've seen.

At the same time I grew out lots of the SS haze seeds I had 95% of the seeds produced similar plants to the mother plant though there where 2 different phenos I found outa 30 or so I ran from the 100

The mother plant tasted like metal kinda. Trashy taste. Hated it lwk though was Stony and medicine

The 2 unique phenos I got from those seeds where cool though

One had a gassy smell and tasted like a weak version of sour desol and had aftertaste of metal

The second phenotype I called the golden phenotype.

This fucker tasted like fruit loops n apples n cinnamon till the last hit. The Scooby hit would be metal taste.

Golden pheno I took a clone of n called it granny and is to this day the smoothest smoke I've ever smoked and 1 hit was enough for me lol at same time I coulda smoked the full bowl outa anything n not coughed it was that smooth..

Not sure what u can pull from this though what I was trying to get at is female plants DO have a emergency system they can use when running out of nutrients and time.

When that happens they will forcefully produce seeds that are instable 🫑 without pollen involved :coolcat:

And I was growing those in Oregon btw long time ago

If it's 'unstable' could it be a good option for looking for new phenotypes? Will it be less similar to the parent plant than other seeds?

I'm pretty sure that without pollen the seeds won't be viable :strokebeard:

cannabis can self-pollinate and produce seeds asexually or hermaphroditically, but if a seed is formed, it means fertilization by pollen took place, even if it was from the same plant and/or hidden stamen to the female pistil.

I read that in certain rare instances, it can occur through natural cloning. From what I understand to be true though, trhe process of creating seeds is not the same as the plant fertilizing itself internally, so there is a fallacy and some confusion with plant sexuality here in the chat.

The misunderstanding stems from some female plants producing seeds spontaneously without male / other plants present
In plants, apomixis is asexual seed production. In cannabis sativa, true apomixis does not happen though. This is because even hermaphroditic cannabis sativa plants require pollen from a male part to initiate karyogamy and meiosis.
You may see swellings on the female bract that look like seeds but are hollow.

https://agriculture.institute/plant-propagation-nursery-mgt/essential-steps-seed-production/

Without pollen, whether it is from a male / hermaphrodite / self-same cannabis sativa plant, karyogamy cannot occur, the nuclei of the male pollen will not fuse to the females', and the resulting seed will not be viable.

For those that like halophytic flora.

I was able to make some interesting observations today, re: host plant choice / elevation in Hyles euphorbiae.

Sharing this here as the wife and kids couldn't be less interested, and there isn't any other nerd around. Sometimes I hate the combo of being both an enthusiastic drug user and a goddamn nerd. The history / biology nerds I know IRL don't get acid or mushrooms. The acid and mushroom fans I know IRL (with one notable exception) don't get field work or working through dusty minutes in a library. Sometimes it feels as if I want to do mutually exclusive things when to me, they aren't.
