If you call that winning. Being destroyed infrastructure and manufacturing and changed leadership as victory then yes thet won. Just like Poland won ww2 then as they got to control land and people afterwards.

Change in leadership? You say that like it's a good thing. Motjaba is more extreme than his father(and has surely been radicalized even more now that he's been disfigured and his family killed) and the hardliners and extremists now have complete control of the Iranian government, when they had previously been consistently losing ground to reformers and moderates, while enjoying a level of support from the Iranian public unimaginable before the war.

Before this fiasco eventual reform in Iran was an inevitability, now it's an impossibility. And if the Strait of Hormuz is ever opened again while Trump is in power it will accompany Iran receiving nearly half a trillion dollars in unfrozen funds and new international investment at the bare minimum.

We've degraded their military industrial complex, but it hasn't been destroyed...and their conventional military capabilities were never the issue to begin with.

The JCPOA had been working as intended before Trump withdrew from it in his first term. Now it's likely we will never get international inspectors within their borders ever again, and the people who want to develop nuclear weapons in earnest are in full control.

The odds that Iran actually attains that goal in the future have gone up significantly, the odds that they would actually deploy one have gone up exponentially. Though it wouldn't be against the US, but rather Israel.

It was bad enough that this war wasn't even necessary in the first place, it hasn't accomplished anything in our interests and has instead made things worse in almost every way imaginable.

Nah he will either die in office soon or live another 15 years.  Dick Cheney had a fake heart with no heart beat form 2010 until he died 2025. Money does buy a longer life.

Can this be resolved while Trump is Commander in Chief? Iran is in a position to ask for a lot.

Maybe a combination of things get Trump to resign. Defeat in the midterms. Failure at trying to manufacture some reason to interrupt the midterms because he's too unpopular to stage a coup. Senate cuts funding for the war. The most incriminating Epstein evidence against Trump gets released, maybe by Republicans. Stock market crashes. JD Vance says step away now in your old age or we'll use that whatever amendment to remove you.

It's either that or Trump gives Iran 'Very loose' guidance on there nuclear, release of economic sanctions and a shitload of money we might not have.

It't like we lost the Viet Nam war in a couple months, and as part of the terms JFK admitted Nam into the G7

Doesn't this feel intentional?

It seems like Trump is trying to destroy the dollar, and trying to hasten the fall of the US, at every turn. He is also cashing in in every way possible, on what remains of our reputation, and global influence.

Nice. That's pretty funny, but I wouldn't say I agree with it. America is all sorts of things. I think a better case can be made that Trump is FOX News personified... but even that doesn't quiiite track, because Donald doesn't drink.

I think lefties need to stop shitting on America as a whole, and know who your enemies are. Namely: Corporate America, the 1%, and AIPAC... for starters.

Donald Trumps presidency's are the result of two things:

- First and foremost is campaign finance law that allows for unlimited spending in US electiond (Citizens United is part of this).

And then also, a Democratic party that serves as a complete false opposition party, and runs election interference, so that good candidates on the left are consistently squashed before ever gaining traction, or cheated out of their nomination.

Last election I was the only one saying Biden had severe brain rot, before his DISASTER of a debate with Trump, and then Democrats just swapped him out and coronated Kamala, who was a traaaash candidate that would NEVER have won the nomination.

We have Democrats running for the Senate right now, who when Kamala endorses them they have to quickly scramble to tell the world, "They didn't ask for and don't want her endorsement".

Really, what all of this comes down to on both sides is money poisoning the well, in our political process. For El Sayed to have won by such incredibly narrow margins is patheic, but he was outspent $10 to 1. Haley Stevens was a fundamentally unlikeable candidate in many ways, and El Sayed is very charismatic, and stands for the right things, though he is a Muslim. Americans fucking hate Muslims, generally speaking.

Trump 2.0 just should not have happened. It's a real indictment on the state of our political system, and the Democratic party... and Democrats are going to try to give us another Republican in 2028.

In this current political atmosphere newsom doesnt cut it.

Hackeem jeffries came out today saying he wouldn't support Medicare for All when 70-95% of democrats support it, he wants to keep raising funds from healthcare and pharmaceutical lobbyists for his own fund raising despite a majority support for Medicare for All.

Yes, they are already starting their speeches about how progressives need to fall in line, because it's not about getting things you want, it's about beating Fascism.

Let's see what happens. The centrist roster is gearing up to be something like 30 candidates... the progressive roster has... one? AOC...

That would be an easy win for AOC, but... I just can't see her winning the presidency. She has been acting more presidential lately. Tbh... I hate to say it, but I would really like to see a charismatic white guy... or a non-muslim Mamdani take the progressive lead..

Just to be safe. If AOC is what we've got to work with... I will definitely vote for her.

The centrist democrats lost to trump twice, so they have no leg to stand on to tell anyone about electability or how to beat fascism, Rho Khanna made that exact point just recently.

Right now 2028 is well down the road and the midterms are key.

There's been a lot of progressive aligned people coming up, but for president name recognition does help. AOC as vice president could be good?

What do you think of Jon Ossoff and Pete Buttigieg?

They’re more moderate or centrist democrat but they’re both very good communicators and no-nonsense.  Ossoff has a relatively wide range of support even in a right leaning state like Georgia.  Buttigieg… I hate to say it but I don’t know if a gay man can win in a general election.

Buttigieg is weak sauce, literally takes the party's stance and has no takes of his own that's why he failed running for president. Him being gay has nothing to do with it.

Is being gay a bigger handicap than being Jewish in presidential politics? How about being a woman?
