Update and the 2 Eungai BIG plates seem to be booming.

Don't worry about the black speck on one of the transfers, it's just an air pocket from my scalpel butchery.

PMB T1 from a diluted spore plate, looking for a second opinion on whether it's disorganized from 3-8 oclock. Transfer from the pretty side or let it ride out?

These are two T1 transfers from a clone of my best cluster from a mislabeled or reverted grow. I think they like nice for a beginners T1 fruit clone.

Really weird oystering I have seen on here but never experienced but this is a T1 from grain that was a little bacterial and this plate def showed it (this is a squatty mac Iโ€™m trying to save).

Two more SM stupid ass bacteria/naughty mycelium plates.

Forgot to post this. I actually ended up throwing some of these to grains, but had to leave town unexpectedly so needless to say they didn't make it to tubs, but posting for fun.

Gonna try again soon once work flow settles...if it settles.

Grain boil water agar! Strained, frozen, thawed and strained again! Pretty damn clear for no dilution, though I also poured plates 1:1 and 2:3 grain water/distilled water ratio as well

Freezing and thawing the grain water modifies the starch from digestible to resistant starch, not sure how this will effect mycelial growth but definitely interested in what you guys think of this, saw a couple users mention freezing the grain water before using it, but not too much discussion about resistant starch in general that I could find here on Shroomery

Only been running LMEA with yeast for mad long, looking forward to seeing how these grain water plates do ๐Ÿคฉ

Thinking of writing up a tek if these perform well

i've been freezing my grain water for years, no noticeable difference.  I don't think that 'resistant starches' is substantiated...  freezing doesnt modify starch...  Also i never strain my GSW.  I MIGHT exclude the last little bit of a pour that has some sediment, but it doesnt matter.  I am not going for clear agar, though.

I'm new to this thread and haven't poured that many plates, but I'm assuming the closer you pour to 120 degrees the less condensation will result? Is that true?

4 stacks of 5 spread out in a SAB, can be poured quickly, don't make two 10 stacks (been there, done that), that will be slow and problems can occur.  If you have a FH, easier process, but can be accomplished both ways.

This probably gonna get fucked off partially because I'm a broke joke and gotta Re buy a pc this time getting the correct one or a autoclave.

Also I want to personally apologize kloakk. I fucked up my sterile prep for the zapotecorum on first attempt. Il try to make more plates when I get the chance from what's left of the print ๐Ÿ™

Somehow I ended up getting it to colonize with some kinda bacteria or the mycelium just has a rainbow metallic sheen to it and it is imbedded in the agar.

Though from my excessive knowledge from failures and contams and just so many experiments with different fungi I can safely assume it's comingled with some nasty nasty bacteria.

Well worst case. It will give me the experience I need with cabin sequestering technique.

Once I eventually get the right equipment for the job.

Also 1000x my fault things where so dirty. I got my massive plastic tub n haven't turned it into a sab.

I'm ok I confessed I'd do better n step outa the risky and unrealistic open air colonizing I been doing ๐Ÿ’€

I keep my promises always just struggling for another month before I make good on my efforts.

It don't show how much effort I'm putting into this I know though I promise il do better guys s2 ty for your patience n mush love ๐Ÿ˜˜

There might be something good in there dude. You really just have to practice taking petri pictures. I think there might be a good post somewhere on this site for that ๐Ÿค”

Okay I have questions lol.

Who is this pink character and, particularly, what the fuck is happening on this striped plate. I thought at first it might have been myc expanding under it but there are similar radial striations coming out of the scalpel mark in a way that doesn't feel very myc-like IMO.

Is this one bacteria colony, or two? Different species?

Here are two on the same plate, one pink and one yellow. I have seen a yellow patch with a pink center, but IDK if they're one thing that changes color over time, or if the pink was a separate thing on top of a yellow one.

More pink stuff

Very curious about the stripey plate. Any knowledge appreciated. IDK much about bacteria and usually don't dig very deep, but these are from a really cool blobby mutation that I might want to cultivate on purpose.
