Most people just use poppy pods and the stalks attached to make tea with.

Be warned that the compounds poppies contain have addictive properties and you will become an addict if you abuse them.

I've always used the pod and around 5 to 10 inches worth of stalk down from the pod. I've been curious about using the whole plant/foliage but by the time my pods are getting ripe & ready the foliage is usually going into senescence and starting to look crispy.

@ Ole...When I make tea I'll slice open the pod and dump the seeds out to save as well as making the tea less "oily". I blend the pods up in a blender with water & a little bit of lemon juice/acidity. Once blended up I dump that into a pot and bring it up to a simmer. Once simmering I'll give it a little stir for a minute or so then I cover the pot with a lid and turn off the burner. I let it sit & brew in the pot for at least an hour before filtering it, sometimes several hours, sometimes in just 20 minutes lol. TBH I haven't noticed a drastic difference with letting it steep for a long period of time but no doubt longer doesn't hurt, seems like with the pods being shredded/blended up well with a lil bit of acidity it doesn't take much for the alkaloids to make their way into the tea.

I've also frozen my fresh pods before making a tea, that could help rupture the cell walls & leak more goods into a tea. I've also done a cold brew in the fridge for 24 hours before filtering off the plant material, blending up the pods then right into the fridge.

And like Karode said, I concur...be wise about your use and know what it is you're dabbling with. The plant can be a pleasant treat, or a useful tool, on occasion in moderation but it is a slippery slope to be standing on for many.

Dosage advice is against the rules for opiates and this forum, but you can search around the forums and the web in general and get an idea of the amount of pods people work with. Start low though, wait a while before considering to drink more. With the amounts I work with I feel the first signs not long after but it can take several hours before it reaches its peak and has quite a long plateau IME.
