I wouldn't bother watering a plant that only has one head left to bloom.  Been trying to be mostly hands off as possible after thinning in early spring.  Minimum watering and only giving nutes twice.  Once for veg, once for flower.  They are tough and do fine with neglect.

The stem will dry very sturdy and support the pod.  If the stems are too thin they were most likely planted too close together.  I do have a bunch of big ones that have fallen over, most of them are resting against a fence.  As long as their roots are still in the ground they'll keep doing their thing.  If it looks trashy you could wrap them up and stake them I guess.

I do cold water extraction.  It seems to work just well but tastes better than a hot tea.  Those always have a bile taste to me where the CWE is similar to how the flowers smell fresh.

I've seen bees "sleep" in the flowers a few times over the years.

I used to have a cool slow-mo video of a bunch of dif bees, of various sizes lol, going nuts over the poppy pollen on a warm day.





I had my first cup of tea of the year yesterday, it was a pleasant day . Brewed up 5 smallish to medium sized pods, drank a lil over 1/2 so about 3 pods worth at first. I def felt the first tinge of it quickly, 10 to 15 minutes, by the hour mark I was buzzing nicely. Continued upward and around 3 hours after the initial drink I drank the rest of the tea. During the peak of it all, along with some herb, I took a lil "nap" for a couple hours or so but I never fully drifted into sleep it was just a deep tranquil relaxation. All around it got me to the exact levels I was looking for, 3 pods of this variety was sufficient for a pronounced warm opiated buzz and anymore than 5 would be on the verge of nod land for me.

If it's also called Dutch Buddha, variety created by the starfish hippie lady, yes. (I've seen her call it "Buddha - Dutch Pharmer Favorite" at one point)
So... "These are the droids you're looking for." (or on the short list, along with Queens (good and lovely too), Tasmanian (red or purple but not white), etc)

Several people steal her photos and sell stuff on ebay and Etsy claiming to be her real, but some will just send poppy seeds from the grocery store.

Looking just now, that's it on the Bay, and some of those are her photos.

What research did you do? Some of these sellers go on Reddit claiming to be customers, but it's really the seller.

They're just "some guy", whereas she has a huge instagram presence, vids and pics going back about 10 years. And she's not just a poppy seed seller, she sells many types of seeds.

My Dutch Buddha finished a few weeks ago:


Laurens are OK, and fucking beautiful. One of the prettiest flowers I've seen. So purple, and so uniformly purple. Never seen a poppy that never has any variation in look once in a while, but Laruen's all look identical, as far as I've seen.

I recommend growing some just for how they look. They're on par in the droid department with Hens&Chicks.
