yeah, its true, don't play with morphine if you haven't done your homework, it isn't as forgiving of idiocy as shrooms or weed.

I bought these from a private seller, and he claims the alkaloid content is absurdly high, the highest of any strain he offers, and grow faster than any other strain. (Reaching full pod-ripeness at around 50 days.)
He calls the strain "Izmir Afghani". If I know anything, Afghan poppies yield some of the highest morphine content (among the other narcotic alkaloids found in opium latex).
If you're interested in more information PM me.

I've used that seller. I can tell by the handwriting. Yes, I've probably used 70% of all the ethno vendors and auction sellers .

BUT, you are going to have to edit out the vendor name before a mod does it for you.

Necro, just to point out the hypocrisy of some forum rules...
OP Was slightly shamed for asking a repeatedly asked question... Then someone gets shamed for "Necroing" in old thread...
So what is it you guys want people starting new ones? Or searching up old ones?
I personally abhor when some mod locks a thread cause it is old.. I lurk a lot and this is widespread idiocy I see on forums... such non-sensical rules...

Couldn't have said it better myself! It's a catch 22 of wanting to learn, but always being too afraid to ask. Just incase you overlooked an old thread, or god forbid have a new question about an old topic!...like I do
Fuck it though I'll necro the thread in pursuit of knowledge!!
Can anyone recommend a strain of somniferum that is heat and humidity tolerant?
I know it's a cool weather annual and I'm not expecting a miracle strain. I've successfully grown poppies this season, but we had a particularly gloomy winter/spring that stunted them. Which then immediately gave way to brutal sun and heat and now they are all curling up in the sun. I'm going to try to do what I can to salvage this season, but it's not looking good. I live in USDA hardiness zone 8b, but I'm not totally without hope because I've seen P. somniferum survive to maturity in pots when carefully tended. Unfortunately the man who grew them passed away in an accident before he could teach me his methods, and his wife dried and ground all the pods before I could save some seeds.
So any help/info you guys could give me on strain selections and/or any methods particular to growing P. somniferum in my climate would be MUCH appreciated!!!
Peace

I never got that either, damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
If you necro post you get scolded for dragging up old stuff, but if a new thread is crated people get uppity or just link you to the old thread anyways.
But ya I've also been looking for a hot/humid strain of poppies that tolerate well, I'm in zone 11 and after trying every combination of soil/water/light/support ect within reason and each time all the plants suddenly shrivel up and die overnight I can only come to the conclusion it must be the temp or lack of cool night or something. I've tried with Dutch flag, spice rack and black swan but they always grow to an inch or two tall then die because the stem shrivels up in the middle after they fall over. iv almost all but given up on ever getting poppies.
i would assume the "afghan" strains would be well adapted to heat but pretty sure they also have cold nights, that and id rather not spend a bunch on fancy seeds from some maybe reputable (since the only sponsor that sells them isnt around anymore) vendor claiming its "afghan". at least without any input from he community if they are indeed worth looking into for heat.
