Been out of the game for a bit, are we still shaking grains during colonization to speed things up?

---

yes

---

But only a couple of times. Otherwise you’re just playing with yourself

---

Does it count differently if you shake it hard and fast? Or gentle and slow..

---

It's hard to define the perfect shake, but you'll know when you get there, just be thorough

---

I have achieved a +4 shake experience, thanks yall 🤙

I don't follow. It's not going to take more than 8 days for that to arrive is it?

How are you planning to spawn it?

Ok, so I saw that this is your first grow, and so far you're leagues ahead of where I was. So take a breath, you're doing a good job.
Next: check out this tek: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17447797#17447797

Lastly, I don't know that I would trust pre sterilized stuff made by someone else. Follow Frank's tek and you're golden.

cheers mate

yeah I did a lot of research and watched every video i could about all of it for like 6 months before attempting. Was very clean SAB air purifier first etc So far so good but im well aware it can all go bad in a heart beat.
1. do you break up the grain in bag to check if its all colonised?
or just see all white feels like a brick and go for it?

2. laundry good for putting into monotub if
sterilise  all benches ceiling etc and purify air first
then wait 15 minutes for air to be still.
or kitchen better?

are you saying shake and break to then put in monotub OR s&b and let it build back up into brick to see if it good?

Ill do it the stairs after a good clean.

thanks again.</font></font>

I remember Frank Horrigan well. Though I totally disagree with him on pasteurizing coir. Totally unnecessary. If you’re concerned about contaminated coir buy high quality coir. Coir itself will not contam, rather non coir debris in the coir is what contams. Pasteurization won’t do a thing to help unless your coir comes with beneficial bacteria populations added to it after the fact.

Yup! I shared my zap grow on 6 month old, cold hydrated coir a few days ago. But I'll share it again 😂 I only use coco bliss and eco earth from chewy. I'm not sure if chewy carries it anymore. It's been a while. But I would buy a case or two and about the time I'd be ready for more, they would send a coupon in the mail 😎
