I personally have never had luck with bucket Tek even with oysters on wood pellets. I super pasteurize coir along with masters mix bags in a steamer for 24 hrs. Way over kill but I'd rather not waste spawn. I know lots of great growers use nothing but cold water to hydrate and get good results. Probably has a lot to do with coir quality but also good clean spawn is a necessity.

Was wondering when y'all usually case? These bags are at 10 days and look like they're knotting already. Should I case earlier in the future?



The last round is side pinning. I think I cased too late or maybe I should be misting a little bit (I've been a bad shroom dad and totally ignored these up to this point) this bag is about 1 month post spawning

@deadmandave- my notes say mine end up cased 10-14 days after S2B. They often look a little further along than what you show here, like just a bit more consolidated/ barely any visible tone of coir.

Me, I have never been able to tame semps urge to side pin. Especially once the sub shows ANY sign of shrinkage they fuckin party hard Andrew WK style.

Here is my semp clone on coir & HWFP, spawned on 19th of march and coming up for a third flush. I picked a lone shroom from it today before really soaking it all.

In the right light, it's lively as hell with primordia all over.

In their natural setting, is decaying wood a substrate for them? What's their natural food source?

I've never had the pleasure of seeing them in the wild.

But yes, from what I've read online of various findings in Mexico- including misty, high altitude forests like some other sect. Zaps - the Semps are growing out among leaf litter and duff on the ground.
So I imagine they like some wood.

Texturally, they do feel a very... lignish/ woody mushroom.

Worth noting, this is just my first tub run with HWFP, and I have not noticed any stark difference than those grown on straight coir so far in morphology, yeild, potency.

After a long time of trying, I finally have Semp spawn!




I have 5 jars. I'm gonna spawn three and let two marinate for a year to make magic flour.

On a cube I'd say it wants to pin, but I'm not sure about semps:

Now this is a nice view:awesome: my little tower of Semps is coming along nicely.

The first two on the bottom have a high spawn ratio and a verm casing, the 3rd from the bottom is twice the amount of spawn and no casing which produced beefier mushrooms it seems. The top one is on its second flush, it produced around 350g last flush.

Potato pics, but I don't see anything alarming. Still, I like to use a plate before it reaches the edge and become fully colonized. A fully colonized plate won't show any contamination, but it can still be unwanted spores on top.

Yeah it's taken inside my sab lol. But it was white and got a little gray after that noticeable white circle in there. I'd use em but I just don't wanna waste the grain jars. Maybe I'll try one and see how it goes

I'm stuck waiting out the summer heat before I can get more semps going, I really liked growing them so they'll be the main thing this fall/winter.

I still haven't tried mine and I had some concerns about how strong they'll be, but a buddy tried out a single 250 mg capsule so far and said that he wanted something relaxing to cap off the day but got in deeper than expected. Not quite a full on trip, but 2 caps will probably get you there. And no stomach discomfort, probably at least in part due to taking so much less compared to regular cubes.
