Don’t forget the cockroaches

I lived in this shithole that was infested with cockroaches, and boy howdy did I learn a lot about them lil dudes. We had three species - American, German, and Oriental. They all had their own idiosyncrasies and patterns. They never became any less of an annoyance and I never stopped murdering them, but I came to reach a higher respect for them and a higher respect for my own place in the order of urban life. There was no ridding of them; I was right down by the river and the railroad tracks and the interstate where the chinese sumac grows abundant. But it was still my onus in a way to manage these populations. Even as a renter I simply had no choice.

There was this one-eyed cat we called "the godfather", a stray that seemed to lead all the other strays. They frequented our corner because our neighbor nikolai - a polish wwii refugee, kept them fed. He himself kept an edible garden, varieties that he said were a real treat when they were blooming during the war.

Anyway, my dog one day managed to corner the godfather and his posse, round them up in an old cupboard in the backyard. She (the dog) came and got me, told me she had something to show me, and there was the godfather, fearlessly guarding his subordinates. He knew exactly what was up, as did I.

Anyway, I'm just drunk and rambling at this point, so, I leave you with kittens:

Yeah let's all just queue up for the suicide booth.
:meh:
If you look at how fast technology proliferates a population I can imagine a lot of scenarios where we don't all burn to death as long as we try not to.
I would say nihilism isn't gonna help anybody so we shouldn't be giving up yet while we're still alive.

So its not about the planet or the birds?
The earths well-being is only a consideration insofar as its ability to sustain our techno-agrarian stronghold of it?

Ive never once said i was a nihilist genny; ive said countless times that im an animist.  I also recycle.  I've planted thousands of trees.  Im an active conservationist.  I have birthday parties where I rope all my friends into cleaning up trash for a day on BlM land. Im on team planet, but I neither  delude myself that this somehow makes me better than anyone else, nor do I ever talk about it (until someone brings it up or calls me a nihilist)

I care about a great number of things genny, but human proliferation isnt one of them; i dont do good things because I think that it will ensure our continued dominance of the planet.  It isnt all about me and it isnt all about us; thats vanity, and that doesnt make me a nihilist.

You do you, bud.

I'd get sprayed by a police officer in Berlin today, if I had the chance. 95 degrees (35 celcius) with 80 percent humidity. Ill be out there putting up garage doors.

Yeah it's been pretty outrageous where I'm at, unusually hot and high humidity. I got this super lightweight hooded shirt from a fly fishing magazine. It's been a game changer. That iand this big giant straw hat that I wear.

just coming back along the river I heard a rustlin commotion on a small embankment to my right and on my eye level a crow emerged out the grass with great momentum and turned what looked like a tumble, into flight.

its legs and tail were caught up with 'sticky willies' (galium aparine) he looked shocked, CAWED loudly and nearly flew into my face only avoiding with a skillful hard turn before regaining his corvidatious cool

all in all it was pretty fuckin sweet. very hot too

:edit: haha I dont mean the crow encounter was erotic, its just high temperature here too I mean

I've been looking for a good straw hat that isn't tight around my head.

We have had a very cool June, 70s during the day and 50s sometimes even upper 40s at night. This is the week all that gets stomped away.

So I broke and put the windows unit ac in. I love the natural air but that's just too hot

Nah.  I've had more than my fair share of violence in life.  I do literally mean just running away.  It is statistically the best way to survive violence.

They weren't bred, they were fed. Domestication syndrome dictates that some individuals started to look more like human babies (big eyes, high forehead etc) and were fed even more. We love to feed animals that look like human babies. They tap into an oxytocin positive feedback loop that's in place to make us endure the terrible nighta our offspring gives us. Same lock, different key. This co-evolution went so far they (and dogs even to a higher degree) can even read human facial expressions by now.

Greetings you crusty crustaceans! :mushroom2:

Full moon on my last night at my first stop. Cool breeze after a hot day. Travelling to the coast for my next stop. Living on a farm in the forest is a grounding experience. Lost my beer belly and have grown a large beard. A few ailments have cleared up. Drinking from a natural spring, eating fresh organic food and spending time in the sun was the trick. A quote by Rumi has been guiding me recently "as you start to walk on the way, the way appears." Haven't met my people yet but some beautiful souls have rolled through! I got bit by a dog and had to get antibiotics. I was more annoyed about my nuked gut biome and the trip to the hospital than the bite. I gutted and defeathered a chicken and it's turned me off meat.

Missing you folks and my poor mushies buried under the cold ground.

Happy belated solstice!
:peaceout:

Y'all want to be in the moment?  Randomly adopt three kittens on a whim that immediately develop health problems and need round the clock care.

I assure you it is impossible to be more in the moment

The good news is my three lil guys love lap time and pets, and they seem to be getting better.
