True - the first bin was infected, but the mycelium swallowed it whole. It gleams with heavy mist: the veil was thickly overgrown.
Will the mutants be strong?

People here are pretty careful and don't want to press external links mate. There's a button above the chatbox you can use to embed pictures.

Thanks Mojave! Things are slow, but I finally inoculated a few jars with 3 soles and xico varieties ( courtesy of the great Kirkeng) so hopefully there will be more activity soon

Also preserving my old stash so it does not degrade:

Does anyone have tips for growing these while being sensitive to spores? I swear my nose and throat can tell the instant a single cap starts dropping anything, and that's real inconvenient with section zapotecorum. I'd love to let them mature longer than I have been able to.

Put an exhaust in your fruiting area so the flow is always in and out. Like a grow room or chemical fume cabinet.

Unless you live in the desert, outdoor spore count can be upwards of 50k spores per meter3. I am curious, do you have reactions when you go outside, and how does your body react?

Makes sense, thanks.

I don't have reactions outside luckily, I sure hope it doesn't get to that point.
When my mushrooms drop spores, I notice pretty quickly and harvest them/ get them out of the house, and it never gets past a stuffy nose and slightly sore throat.
But now I think I am getting sensitive to molds too, not totally confirmed. For this last place I was in, I had to run an air purifier blowing right on my face at night for about a week after any rain event, or I would get bloody noses in the mornings. I literally never get bloody noses. I think it was mold blooms but i could never find an exact source. Only ever bothers me indoors.

Apologies for getting off topic.

For how long do you guys and gals consolidate Semp spawn after full colonisation? I usually do around 2-3 weeks but I became curious after deciding to spawn my most recent jars at different times to see what happens. What's your experience with longer consolidation Vs shorter?

Edit: another tub decided it was time to dance :dancer:

I think I have noticed some shorter spawn to first pin times with longer consolidations. Not sure the extra weeks in the jar were offset by the reduction in time colonizing the substrate, though. I doubt it was a net positive.

Once there were pins everything else proceeded as normal as far as I ever noticed.

Alright so faster pinnig is the only real benefit? I guess I'll have to fiddle around with it and see what happens. My latest ones were consolidated for 2 weeks and they pinned really fast but I think that's because of the culture because it has never been slow to pin.

Update on the shizzle.

First up is the 45l ez dial with a 1:10 ratio and the lone ranger it produced at first. There are plenty of pins under the verm by now though so I ain't even mad.

Second up are the 14l ez dial style shoeboxes which seem to be doing a bit better. It has got plenty of pins on it and quite an even pinset all over the top:awesome:

But there's also PLENTY of bottom pins...:uhoh: gonna be a pain in the ass to deal with but hey shrooms are shrooms I guess:naughty: I don't know why this one got so many bottom pins, I tried packing the sub as well as I could but it seemed to shrink more than usual and created a microclimate, or I completely failed the surface conditions but idk.
