First picture a couple days ago and second is tonight. A nice lilac dusting of spores is showing up on some caps now, probably I should pick and print some soon but they’re too pretty I can’t bring myself to do it yet.

This run is sample run in a small tote, a second larger tote is beginning to pin as well. We’ll see if they perform as well in the larger space. For whatever reason sometimes the smaller ones are easier to manage for some species, I think these will be fine though.

Dude they’re so fire! I really love the purple colour of the spores in contrast to the pale caps. Super pretty

New to this thread, did you grow this in a monotub? If so, how much selection did it take to get to that point and what growing conditions did they like/not like? Thanks!

That grow was a clone from wavy, so I didn’t do any selection for them.



This grow though was also done in unmodified tub, it took a few selections to get going if I recall correctly.

Outlined better in my journal. Conditions for the Leucistic were basically semp conditions, a smidge drier. For the non Leucistic ones those took a much drier path, finicky but once dialed they pushed.

Apologies if journal is all over the place I was juggling many cultures and probably forgot to document a lot/path is not clear as my labeling is horrid :lol:

Other cultures, like bwt03 is proving more finicky and tough to bring to maturity without aborting/rotting. Those may take more iteration to dial in. Bwt01 is a clear winner for tubs with a little work though.

Lucy pap returns. Larger tote this go around, honestly they proved slightly less tolerant in the larger tote. Some premature rotting/aborting present as maintaining proper moisture was a tad harder to maintain evenly. Still they’re not all reaching or starved for air so the higher walls don’t seem to be an issue. Probably I could choke them out a bit and they’d progress fine. Perhaps I’ll try that on second flush.




As a side note these mushrooms have been the highlight of my year so far, been missing my late cat whom is buried in the back yard amongst Papuana mycelium and some fruits almost a year ago. Coincidentally her name was Lucy, I can’t help but feel like she’s been back with us these last couple weeks in the Lucy paps.

Process is fairly straightforward. I make AIO spawn of roughly 25/20/20/15/15 grain/manure/straw/hwfp or hemp/coir. Sometimes I’ll add clay if I think about it when I make it. Inoculate with lc, spawn consolidates for like 1-4 weeks depending on space and time. Then spawned to straight coir, maybe a 1:2 ratio. If I have leftover manure or other sub already made I’ll use that too, in that case I’ll do more like a 1:3 or 4 ratio.

Cased at full colonization with either peat casing or a peat heavy cactus soil depending what I have made. I like adding extra peat to cactus soil as I think it makes the texture lighter and adds a little water retention. Lately I’ve been using more of the cactus mix than straight peat due to laziness as my block of peat is frozen solid in the garage and I can’t be bothered spending too much time with the ice pick…

Then fruiting is just twice daily misting morning and night, about a tamp level till pins, eg wet but not overly, no visible drying of casing between mists but not overly saturated. Once pins show I lighten the misting a bit just to keep the caps wet but I’d say it’s more akin to a mist I would give to pans at this point, eg caps are not visibly “wet” relatively shortly after misting. As they mature and reach into “drier” areas of the tub I’ll bump it up a little bit and get them slightly wetter. Mostly they seem to run a relatively fine line between rotting and drying out so it’s very much by feel and look of the fruits to decide how much to give. Thankfully they’re super responsive so under or overwatering typically becomes clear by next time I go mist them. I’ll generally have time to salvage a small mistake.

I feel that, miss mine as well, it's been a couple of years now, but I had them for over 18 years, I still hear them meowing from time to time :hug:

Thanks for the insight, sure is appreciated. Fingers crossed they'll find their way here with me as well. Are you doing multiple jars to one tub or are you using bags?
