Thanks hazy! Unfortunately strapped for cash, but I'd love to do a giveaway sometime soon to spread these genes!

Thanks for the info, makes sense to have the coir as a top layer. Extra hydration plus protection from mold since I guess trich is more likely to take a foothold on straw vs coir. I'll try that on my next tubs!

Here is a T1 transfer of a Taman Negara clone. I think this was a plin that grew in a cluster from the original transferred plin. We will see how that goes! What's interesting is that the mycelium actually turns darker, not quite visible in this pic, perhaps it's due to food coloring, but since it's a cube with VERY dark pigmentation, I'm not quite sure.

Actually, just asked AI, and Melanin is indeed the factor, so this variety seems to be high in it! Chanterelles have carotenoids which is the same molecule as carrots!

Here is the Eungella. One of the previously leucistic looking caps has turned a bit light brown. The bottom right one looks promising and is a crazy cluster. I'll try stabilizing a leucistic variety, would be nice  for a wild one!

Now, what do you think would happen by crossing the ultra dark Taman Negara with a Leucistic Wild? Normal cube?

Cross post with potd

More WTF but this ms tub took a month to fruit with pins still arriving

Got a few swabs in case anyoneโ€™s keen, gonna clone a few of the late comers also and see what they do

Wild Australian Murbah on Straw, this was a plin clone sent to grain the g2g

Another tub got me this horizontal boy at 71g wet

I've been noticing that wild varieties tend to have more solid stems, have others felt the same?

Wild Cubensis from Feluga, FNQ, Australia is growing! I'm growing them from wild spores that were printed from fruit collected in the field near Feluga.
Thanks to the generous Aussie forager for the spores.

Nice! How did they come out potency wise?

I've been in cult limbo, and recently had an inspection at my place. I am afraid that during my cleanup, I might have accidentally thrown out my collection of wild prints from the ones I grew :frown: I really hope I can still find it. Technically, I still have some old agar that hasn't dried out, so I could make more, but I was interested in starting from spores with them, especially for mixes.

If that is the case, and I accidentally threw them out by mistake (grow room was quite chaotic), what would be the most efficient way to go about this? Top fruited jars? Fahtlocks?

Is there any possibility we can set up some sort of exchange for wild spores for the promotion of hybrid vitality and little genetic experiments? I'm new to mycology as a hobby and would like to be knee deep in it as soon as possible.

I've not tried them yet. I'll let you know when I try.

I think Fahtlocks can be a way to go. I prefer smaller shoeboxes because I've used to it.

Wild Australian Stokers put all global efforts into a dimensional escape colony ship

Sibu, Wild Costa Rican from Non Vendor, thought I had lost those genes because they were mislabelled with Taman Negara, but I revitalized them.

From another plate

And still the F0 Wild Australian Eungella, outputting a bunch of pins and a creame almost Leucistic Phenotype. Glad it worked out, because I only spawned a small tray of these before losing my prints like a fool. You can see the plin I want to clone, straight on the original agar transfer

Another plate

Howdy y'all! I've been slow on cultivation this year (and everything else tbh). Last year, I think I managed to throw out the bag containing all of the wild spore prints that I had done, which meant that I had to grab older agar plates, and re-transfer to make new shoeboxes just to get new prints.

First shoeboxes are coming up, I've got 3 Australian varieties, Murbah, Chinderah and Eungella, which if I cloned correctly, will be leucistic!

First Murbah pins.

Now, I also have Purple Mystic, which is a documented landrace from Florida from a user over here on shroomery. That being said, it's been over a decade. I suppose genetically, it would still be varied compared to GT if the Purple Mystic was labeled correctly. I'm excited to grab spores and see if the fruits do end up having any distinct pheno.

Taman Negara and Sibu are being difficult, but I have new plates I'll put to grain, Tico as well. Those had contam issues, but I tried doing a trench and it seems to have worked nicely.

What wild cubensis strains are you working on?

Hell yeah. I don't post much in here but this initiative is close to my heart.

I currently have an alabama wild type and a costa rican guapiles on PF cakes. Working on getting those to spore.

Simultaneously (but slowly) I did a bunch of serial dilution streaks and have some probable monokaryons for B+ and ochra.

B+ is prone to morphological shenanigans, so I wanna see what happens when that meets wild type spores. (and also what happens if the mono gets to di up with something like enigma for a sporeless cross...)

^ My mystery strain Husky which was gifted to me unlabeled, is likely GT or B+, statistically, but it has shown abstract mutants.

This was the OG mutant that gave me my first mutant, The Thing, an enigma like that sometimes has normal enough mushrooms for spores. Tried running it on some cakes but I evidently had made a very dirty print oops. Luckily I have others.

Definitely want to try crossing this with wild varieties if I can do a proper MS grow. All of my genes currently have been propagating for too long, I need to go fresh to spores more often.

I tried Enigma and The Thing on a plate but didn't actually test it out. I think the key would be something like the Oster Blender, two agar plates together way of crossing.

We've got cloned Leucistic Eungella Australia pinning in the house!!

The original tray I grew it on was straw, and it had some sort of bacterial contamination, perhaps the reason why I got this lucky mutation. I think I cloned the bottom white boy.

Was never able to grow it proper since, due to contaminations, a hiatus, and stuff getting in the way.

These should fruit, and print. Hopefully it passes on the leucistic genes via spores.

Leucistic Eungella Australia (LEA) would be a great candidate for crossing, similar to how AA+ is, since it makes it obvious. One can hope!

Also have another Purple Mystic shoebox going. Nothing special, and not sure if I should even consider it wild, but knowing its verified from Florida (assuming to mislabeling since) works for me.

I also have Coyopolan, a F2 Mexican landrace. I injected two cakes and did some swabs with it. Still waiting on any sign of growth.

What are y'all working on?
