Feeling pretty good about these tuba! Just to confirm, these are not ready for misting, right? I should really wait until full surface colonization?

The tubs have a good amount of condensation of the lids, some water is starting to bead on the surface. I should only be misting when the surface looks dry?

Thanks, I'm excited about how well this is going, and just need someone to say "yup, that's what you do next" lol

My fist time taking spore swabs. The swabs have to dry before packaging just like a print, right?

Misting is on an as needed basis. If it doesn't need it, dont do it. That coir looks plenty hydrated, so unless it somehow dries out quickly over the next few days, I doubt you'll need to mist.

Have you see the post on how to read the surface conditions once it's fully colonized?

I dont have it bookmarked, but its likely in the HHG in my sig.

As a general rule, dont do anything without a reason to do it. Tub looks good homie so just leave it alone and figure out what your surface should look like at full colonization and take it from there.πŸ€™

Thanks! I'd much rather share smash wedges. Swabs are a little bit of an extra hassle. Anyway, I figured I would try making some from my Yeti grow.

Can I do a type of bucket tek for potting soil?

Can I microwave the potting soil fast? I get some soil fleas or gnats that show up, usually I see just 1 per tray but they kind of gross me out because I don't want them getting in the carpet. Not sure if they could really live without soil though but still.

Is it possible to do a steam cycle on potting soil like with PF tek? Some of my trays where I broke up cakes into potting soil have a very heavy blueing going on, not sure what it is. And the random flea/gnat.

OK so can I microwave small amounts for a few mins after moistening or is this no longer ok?

I can't put soil in the oven, just looking to do small amounts with a microwave or pot in case I need a casing layer for some jars. Not sure how long I would need to do this for.

Pasteurization requires a relatively low temperature (around 150 Β°F) for a long time (at least a couple of hours). You will not be able to achieve that in a microwave.

Someone, somewhere on this site was using their dehydrator to pasteurize small amounts of casing. Sous vides are cheap as hell on the 'zon ($30-$40) and pasteurize perfectly as well as making agar pours awesomely perfect too.

With your description of your process, id say that blueing is mold...

Chucking cakes at potting soil sounds like a recipe for failure...

Who told you to use soil and why?

Sterilizing stuff mean you have to use it sterile. Like a petri dish...

Bunch of clear pins with caps starting to show up after misting frequency was increased. This forum saved this harvest from blobbing for sure.

What to do after this harvest? Is dunking in boiled and cooled water worth the risk or should i just mist for 2nd flush?
