Are impulse sealers like the vacuum sealers without the vacuuming?

What do you know about injecting a bit of argon or nitrogen into the bags before you seal them?

Pretty much yes.

And no. I dont have experience with the argon or nitrogen but I have heard of it as well.

I went down the rabbit hole today on this. Argon you can get in cans from the Zon, kinda like the cans you use to blow dust out of a keyboard or other electronics with. One of its uses is for preserving food, wines and liquors. It is heavier than air so you can spray it in the bags upright to displace the air, seal the ziploc and then hermetically seal it with a heat/impulse sealer. This dramatically increases shelf life of food products.

That sounds dope I bet you could add some to dry shrooms to stop oxygenation.

That's actually what I was wanting to ask about. Yesterday I broke and shook 2 jars of Pink Buffalo cubensis and one jar had a spot that at first turned blue then a sorta greenish color. I was worried it was mold but by this morning the mycelium grew back and its fluffy white again. It was only one spot that did that is the mycelium fighting mold or is this just bruises and oxidation I haven't seen any yellow myco pee yet so I thought it was bruises but didn't know it turns sorta blue green. I thought only Pan was so potent the mycelium bruises.

Cant tell if its mold or not without a pic, myc doesnt piss, and any active myc can bruise.

Shoot I didn't take pictures because it was just blue tinted at first then it turned darker blue and then greenish. I seen little blue tint in the other shake and breaks but not like this it was a clump of grain stuck together.

I just didn't take a picture because I assumed it was bruising till last night when it started looking greenish but I seen 6 attempts on grain get trichoderma and it looks a darker green when I get it.

I just thought it was unusual for cubensis to bruise that much never seen it happen before.

Ive seen it happen plenty. You're probably fine, but there are other blue/green. Molds too

In regards to extremely Consolidated spawn.

I like to use this canning tool

to dig my way through and break up the spawn.  instead of banging and shaking the shit out of it. The little teeth  on it work perfectly.

Would that be considered bad practice? Should I be worried about destroying the myc or anything like that? Or is it okay?

So far I haven't had any issues. But I'm wondering if it could be diminishing the performance in any way?

Anyone ever dealt with white rabbit cubensis?

Just need to know if they dump spores?

Going on vacation for 4 days and it’s starting to look like my stuff will flush/mature while I’m away.

Not a bad 2nd use for a headspace measurer! I actually use that for its intended purpose 😂 I’d be careful using anything that would possibly damage the grains themselves. The myc I would be less concerned about. Tearing up the grains though is another story. If I have a tough jar I break it with a few hard whacks and then get the chunks out and lightly bust them up in the tote with my gloved hands while spawning.

The interior grain should be colonized too. I do the same thing but with a spoon. Theres no keeping that grain intact sometimes.

I bet that thing is easier

Here is a question for people:

Do you sometimes get colder when doing this?

I dont mean freezing cold or sick or anything, but I seem to get a little cold doing this at times.  I even keep a Slanket  next to the couch where I like to sit most times.

Oh yeah, that cold feeling is totally normal after eating mushrooms:mushroom2:

Man, this whole time I've been scrapping my grains out of the jars with a spoon like a barbarian, no shake, no nothing :hehehe::mushroom2:

Oh is that what we are referring too? :lmafo:

Yeah I go back and forth from cold to hot constantly. If I’m in bed, I’ll kick the covers off and then 15 minutes later they’re back on!

I always figured it was a blood pressure thing or something, like the yawning.

Disclaimer: I have an IQ of 48 and dk shit about human biology.

Edit: Nvm, I think yawning is related to shallow breathing when you're tired...maybe. Idk. Idek why I'm still typing...

Are you down with ACC? Yeah you know me!

My ACC shoebox is acting like it's trying to pin but they look odd. Is this what blobs look like?

When you see a little  uncolonized grain pressed against the glass like this, there's either a minor excess in moisture, or the spawn is slightly bacterial. Either way, send it!:mushroom2:I'd bet that spawn will yield plenty of mushrooms
