Revelation or a dumb idea?

Couple of days ago I was setting up jars to vacuum seal dried fruit with my mason jar sucker heater toy and I had so much dust on my hands from fooling with mushrooms that I licked my fingers. Good Lord it tasted delicious. Like a button mushroom only better. Of course the licking led to some time laying down listening to music because I licked too much. The danger we face while preserving our labor.

The next day I thought there's no way those tasted so good so I ate one. It was melt in your mouth like the cotton candy of the mushroom world. Just plain old golden teachers but upon examination I realized I had about 6 oz with almost no bruising. Now part of that was because of the way that I handled them pulling them and because I don't clean the shrooms until after they're dry. Any number things could be the factor but I really wonder if the bruising contributes to the often time bitter nature of the flavor of mushrooms. Thoughts?

Haha the wedges fell so gently into your jars I just assumed they were on the thinner side.

So does more agar mean faster colonization?

A single plate dropped to a jar is likely to be not much faster than a single wedge.

Cut that plate up into several innoc points and speed increases the more nocc points you have.

On my innoc just now I was doing great until I put two jars on top of the SAB and slid them...  ah, shit.

As long as nothing was open it should be fine

I have always had an issue with dunking my cakes, what I do: I normally dunk right after I harvest for about 18-24hrs then ofc pour out the water and leave the cake be until it begins to produce again. However, my problem is the harvest. I don't get an even decent 2nd flush after I dunk. It is almost like (every time) the mycelium is so dense it wont soak up the water.

Have you ever tried a high pH water for the soak? I'm sure there are directions all over the shroomery for how to make a batch.

I have cultures that I want to store until I need them. They are on (mini-round) plates. Wrap them and put in refrigerator?

The fridge will hold them for a bit, but search cryo vial tek for longer term storage.

I should check on my fridge plates today.

A thick pour at room temp will keep a culture for quite awhile

Just tried giving it a search and honestly only found people talking about pH control on their casing layers or even just convos about drinking water, however if you have ran into a forum with info about it I'd love a link! It is a problem I have ran into all the time preventing me from a good 2nd flush.

I think they mean pour a thick plate and keep it at room temp for storage.

I think it's odd that my pedantic ass wasn't the one asking about it in the first place. But I guess I do that more in person.
