In reality, they are incomparable. The photo does not convey all the beauty of this mushroom.

Thanks Bro, I do not even know what to call this culture, it was originally labeled as HVC, found in Huatla De Jimenez, Mexico.
It was revealed in full beauty after a proper approach to cultivation and careful study of the experience of the local participants. I really love photographing these creatures.

I decided a while back that my 2 (probably) not contaminated semp jars were going to be used for myceliated grains, but I started to wonder what my best bet was for getting the grains dry. Are folks here using a dehydrator or something else?

Dehydrator works best, I used the fruit leather tray to spread the grain out.

Noice, I have some of those already.

No quantitative correlation between bluing reaction and potency. Also bluing is polymerisation of psilocin, which is the less stable of the main alkaloids. Psilocybin holds the protective phosphate group and doesn't contribute to bluing unless first converted to psilocin.

Question. My subs have been doing fairly good for a couple months now. 20-30 at a time every couple weeks. But, I have noticed that when I harvest them, there is no blue bruising like with cubes. Is this normal for them? Or does it mean there is very little, if any, actives?

I was also concerned about potency when mine didn’t blue at harvest. I was surprised because the mycelium blued when I shook the grain at 90%. I I dried and ground them for capsules anyway. They are fantastic!

Just started making capsules also. Haven't tried it yet. mine come out to be about a quarter gram each when full. How many should I take for a decent buzz?

About 1/4 to 1/3 of what I dose cubensis is good for me. Little buggers can surprise you.

my first semp grow pinned in 26 days, now 13 days later. I knew I was not misting as much as I should have been, after begining to mist 3x daily some of the stipes on the larger pins started to peel.

I understand verticillium can cause this. I have also read that drying and subsequent soaking can also cause this. What is my course of action? it has not seemed to get worse, and the mushies are still growing (slowly)

Congrats on your first Semp grow Pizza Squirrel! They look like they are doing ok, just keep them misted from here on out and enjoy the wait!

They look beautiful Kirkeng, despite being vertically challenged. 😀

I want to say this one was just coir/hwfp/manure but I could have added clay and hemp, it’s one of the two can’t remember back to January

Whats the gypsum for?

Bacteria is almost always from your hands

To keep the grain from sticking together supposedly and a source of calcium.  Lots of folks have recommended using it.  I just put a 1/4 tsp per jar so probably not doing much.  Going to get rid of the dr. mike's magical gypsum stuff though just to get rid of the black specks (biochar in that formula).  I've got to get this contamination issue sorted out with these semps.  Those 2 boxes aborted and died.  My 3rd box is still doing ok and no signs of the black spots on the stems so still hoping to get fruits from it.

Thanks for input and will keep you posted.  Got some holy grail and zap taipa (sp) going to agar, some more going to bulk and some getting cased this weekend.  Will see how all this goes over the next few weeks.

Also got some good performing ochra that is more inbred than a jar of sourdough starter. It is getting about ready to fruit.  Hoping to get some prints from this circular family tree and share them at some point.

I may not have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, but I have taken 20 grams of fresh subtropicalis

You probably don't need any additives but water for subtropicalis. Other than grain stickiness, it really doesn't contribute anything. Calcium is mainly useful for things like oysters and not so much for Psilocybe. While theoretically a vector for contamination, if you PC anyway, I doubt if that is a real concern.
