It can be annoying to have to clean out any tub or terrarium as it is
so doing that ASAP is good because it gets even more annoying and difficult to clean with dried substrate sticking to it.
Sometimes you can let it soak a bit with a bleach water solution,
for me it was 0.5 : 1.0 parts bleach to water, because its a pretty strong cleaning solution.

Generally the plastic liners or whatever you use are good for easy clean up
and lessens the mess you have to clean on the plastic bins. Then wipe with a mild clorox towelette or paper towel,
or 70% ispropyl allowed to evaporate then left to sit there until refilling, then another 70% wiping then evaporating before adding plastic liners and spawning to bulk.
Some speculate this was for preventing side pins while others
utilized it for both reasons I think.

This variety consistently does this to me. Fairy rings a shoe box and aborts half way thru a flush. It pins where the coir is almost muddy, I think it’s fae not water though.

I think they abort due to high co2 and the edges of the unmodified shoebox are the only spot getting evaporation.
I was running it lid on 24/7 they’re cheap and lids fit very loosely anyway. Some of them I did even flip the lid and noticed no difference but there’s 0 airflow in the environment they’re in. Jars in same room also stalled consistently or at least slowed growth. When I say room I really mean  large closet with door slightly open😂

I’ve had issues dialing shoeboxes in before though I think I’m gonna try to make a switch or at least try dub tubs. Unmodified just ain’t enough fae for my case I guess.

Anyone have any input? Maybe I’m wrong and I’m all ears on how to fix this. It is only this variety though. Other varieties are doing okay. I think unmodified shoeboxes might be limiting me but they’re at least fully flushing.

SFD stickers… from the ‘zon… good2go or a scam?  I do have some in hand but haven’t used them yet.

I’ve just been running loosened, unmodded plastic lids thus far.  It’s been working out, but jars are sometimes slower to colonize, and I suspect it’s due to poor GE.

Been too lazy to do the thing with red goop + Tyvek…

So please, tell me to stop being a bum and get my DIY shit together, or encourage my shortcut taking nature with readymade products. Or possibly even to stay the course with unmodded lids; the least effort of all.

The choice is yours….

And so, I will be throwing together a PC run in the next couple hours, and the answers here will determine my course of action.  Stickers for tonight or another round of unmodded?  And RSV for next time? Or not?

oh I've had pretty good luck with the stickers I just don't use them more than once.

i use the filter disks.  I figured out a way to punch perfect circles of them to take all the work out of it.  Pretty straightforward, I just sharpened one end of a copper pipe and I punch them out on a log out back.

then yes, red goop.  I probably have 40 or 50 lids I have been using since around 2022 ish.  One time one of the filter discs fell off...

end of story.

hey nocap.  you keep that shit up.  youre killin it dude.

Whoa!  Thanks Dude!  Really appreciate it.

Let’s see how these stickers go in that case.
Time to drill some holes and load a dozen pints.

I once had no caps but thanks to this community I now have far too many.

Fr fr nocap.

So… I’ve got micropore tape.. but was under the impression that the holes were too big and multiple layer are required, but ultimately GE is restricted and the outcome is less than ideal.

Cap, or no?
