Quick Question
I just moved my aio cake that I almost gave up on to a tub because when I came back to town it was fruiting, I’m using a still air box as a fruiting chamber and I have a humidifier in there since it seems to short to put the lid and mist




Tips on how I should bring them to harvest before I say goodbye and start a new?

Also notice I suggest wiping it off with rag or paper towel, which will also help the filter stick. (particulate remaining from sanding will make it less sticky)

Ah damn I didn't think of that. I just did 14 Lids without wiping them off. At least I know now.

I have read it and I’ve gotten very close to pursuing the entire tek except the myc is producing so it’s not an issue with colonization or beginning fruiting but I’m not sure on how to shift my fae or moisture since i changed the environment all i want to do is make sure these few finish fruiting

I'm the one with "problems" in this matter :rofl: I don't even want to think about how much time I used just to come up with a way to get a circle scuffing :uhoh:

Yeah, just leave them. They're not a contamination risk.

The colony pinned a lot and then stopped putting energy into the pins that it couldn't get to mature for whatever reason.  They're digesting the aborts.  Pulling nutrients back out for other projects.

Culture selection can help.  But some aborts from a heavy pinset in a tote is normal.

Generally though, drying out, drowning, and high co2 are the main environmental factors that can cause aborts.  Unfortunately they're all interconnected.  Yours look like they want a bit more air, but that could swing the other way and dry out pins :shrug:

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it too much outside of cloning the nicest looking cluster and maybe switching to easy dials if it feels like an issue afterwards. The colony produced a lot of pins, and decided for whatever reason that it didn't have the conditions appropriate to mature them. So instead it's going to put that energy into the mushrooms it is maturing.

I’m guessing it’s time to harvest?
This is Psilocybe Cubensis Mexican, any idea why they grew so thin and spindly? The substrate is pretty thin at 1.5 inches, shoeboxes are Ez Dial

Can somebody point me in the right direction on different recipes for substrate for medicinals like lions mane and reishi and gourmet mushrooms like oyster mushrooms? Everytime I look online I see the same or similar recipes. Here in my country i cannot get a hold some of the things like wood pellets for example. Or does anyone know what I can use out here in the Philippines for substrate? I dont know much about growing medicinal mushrooms but i'm pretty sure there are great substitutes to make substrate out here.

Can you get a hold of wood chips or sawdust?  I have grown LM and Reishi on pasteurized sawdust, those are pretty forgiving
