saying Latin words makes me feel smarter, even if I still have trouble spelling psilocybe (psy? pcsi?)

also you're pretty shifty yourself Mr P so I'm not surprised :dealwithit3:

I feel the fanciest when I really lean into the over-pronunciation of the latin names. Saying "ochraceocentrata" definitely makes you sound smart n' fancy.

Supa suggested I put together something similar for Pans.  Instead I'm going to bless the boards with a rare tree frog shitpost.

Section Cinctulus
-cinctulus

Section Olivaceous
-olivaceous

Section Cyanescens
-everything else

(I am actually tracking this stuff as more species are found and more information is available, but that does about sum up the active pan sections atm)

Also

There's a few outliers, but some are likely misidentified.  I'm going through some papers now to back up my shit post.

But it was a shit post.  There are outliers, that are weakly active. And all panaeolus have serotonin and serotonin derivatives. But the number that actually have psilocybin is pretty small.

It really is about that.  Axfordii, Cambos, Tropicalis, Cyans, Bisporus, Mystery SA, Chlorocystis.  They're all close enough to hybridize (though difficult, as a lot of them have two spored basidia).

Anyway, I'll start my own thread or probably just make a post in the pan guide, but the literature is a mess tbh.  Sometimes this is active, sometimes it's not (maybe it was misidentified )

@Supa, I was perusing your awesome OP, using the list to check something and almost had an OCD fit. The sections are not alphabetical! 😀
