psilocybe cubensis...best strain?

I'm just getting starting on this shrooming "hobby" and was wondering the best type of spore to use. I've read the "psilocybe cubensis " is best for newbies. What strain would you suggest? Also, what (US)online retailer would be the best to purchase said strain from?

Yes, any strain of P.Cubensis is good. All the strains are fairly easy to grow; some colonize faster, some grow taller, etc. Choose based on what you like.

There's a few US vendor's: The Hawks Eye, Sporewrks, Lil Shop of Spores, Fanaticus, etc... Check the vendor forum or the grow/find section of the shroomery for more info.

I thought p. cubensis WAS the strain.. what strain does Fanaticus sell? That's where I bought..

P.Cubenis is a SPECIE, one of many mushrooms.
There are several strains of p.cubensis, such as Treasure Coast, Cambodian, Thai Lipa Yai, Ecuador, etc... These are all p.cubensis, they just look different and have different characteristics from one another. Just like how there are a whole shit-load of cannabis strains, but really there's only 2 types of cannabis.

Fanaticus sells p.cubensis.

if you didn't specify, you prob got Matius. it is an amazonian strain. otherwise i think you are suppose to tell PF, or anybody else for that matter, wich strain to send you.

There is no best strain. Just as there is no best brand of beer, or car, or shoes. Most all commercially available spores work just fine.
