Well I was going off the qtest.  But I think I didn’t grind the sample up enough and semps are really “stick-like” so I didn’t an accurate reading.  Probably start at a gram next time.  Maybe 1.5

Sorry to resurrect an old topic Faht but..... I have some semp spores and am wondering if the "more visual, easier comeup" talk from a couple years ago was hype or what? Sounds like they can be plenty strong lol... any perceived trip differences from vanilla cubes?

It was definitely a slow rise.  visual af.  Like sheets of color.  Great after glow.  I haven’t taken cubes in a minute so I’m having a hard time comparing atm.  It was good stuff tho.  Def recommend

I’m not doing so well trying to grow these.
This is my 3rd attempt, it looks like I’ll have to start over again.
This box was spawned on 3/2 in CV with a jiffy mix casing when it colonized, but now it looks like the pins are starting to abort.
I’ve been misting and giving a little extra FAE at least once a day, sometimes twice if it looked dry.
They are in regular room temp- 71 degrees.
I left home on Friday afternoon and came home today to this.
It still looks moist to me so I don’t think one day of neglect should make them abort.
I’ve grown cubes and pans with no problem but I feel like this mushroom does not want to grow for me.
Thanks for any suggestions!

I've got nothing for you but sympathy  I'm flailing on my third attempt, two shoeboxes that were looking really good but I think have stalled out. But I've got another shoebox going now I'm hopeful about, so maybe that's some advice, go again? Not sure but I think my mistake this last time was to fuck with it too much at a critical time, right as the primordia appeared, by opening the lids and misting, instead of letting the pins set. Also they're slow, obviously, so maybe there's life there even when it seems like they're done? You got fruit, so they're coming, next time if not this

Question for the group. We’ve proven that mycelium on grain is active. Is mycelium grown in liquid medium, like an LC also active? Has anyone tried or tested this?

I can picture a big bioreactor churning out pounds of mycelium in short order. I may give this a go if nobody has any experience.

A friend of mine actually did just this grew semps in a small bioreactor extracted the myc and dried the mat. We tested it via those miraculix tests and got a zero reading. I think it would still be worthwhile to try with a hplc result and maybe different means of preserving or extracting the mycelium.

Possibly there could be a necessary ingredient in the broth that would boost the result too? Maybe a grain soak lc? Or some other nutrient source. I’d say with simple lc we saw nothing but does not mean it’s not possible!

Totally spitballing here, but wouldn't the myc need a significant amount of P, to make the phosphoryloxy thing on psilocybin? I mean I get the synthesis is probably better served with a nice amino mix etc, but that seems the obvious missing part, just looking at the molecule.

qq: what is needed to prep for a second flush of subtrops? The cake shrunk a little but not nearly as much as with cubes. Do the rest of you soak? recase?

I spawned a decent lookin jar to a pretzel bucket
Grain:Coir 1:2
Coir:Water ratio 1:3.5

Tryna top fruit the baccy jar. Topped with coir, let colonize, topped with 50/50+

Replaced the lid with two layers of tyvek paint suit and threw some masking tape on the top. Racing stripe ventilation.

We will see

First birthday for my pet multispore dubtub Eldad!
:birthday:

^This mornings birthday glamour shot.
So I spawned this subtrop/semp dub on April the 9th 2024, millet to coir w/ verm psuedocasing.
It was leftovers from my main tubs of semp, and mainly lived on my desk giving flushes like this, its second:

until October, perhaps flush 5 or 6, when it started to only give the odd niknak and paddywac:

By end of November, I decided to rejuvinate it a bit with longer soaks and a fresh verm top after roughing the old one up.

This would be the last of the naks, and Eldad seeming dormant for a while.

Through Nov and into December I continued to open the dub in order to mist heavily 3x a week or so, hoping my pet would perk back up. The odd primordia would rise up, only to abort leaving the surface a slightly pitted verm wasteland- forests of the unborn sparsely gathered from place to place.
Just before christmas, perhaps prompted by it's new steady digs by the exotic heat of my xbox's fan, I was greeted by a tiding of comfort and joy:

:hellyeah:
Ever since then, the jams have been pumped out and I'd estimate a total of 10 flushes thus far.

From an estimated 250ml or less of colonised millet.
Awesome- let's see if it gets to 2 years!
:birthday:
