Mr Piggy said:
Uh, was that written by AI?  It just said pans are in the same genus as psilocybes.

I wouldn't trust anything from that source.

It was actually a screenshot from the vendors website of the syringe. I cropped off the rest so as to keep within the rules of not linking or divulging vendors if that is what I believe is the correct thing to do?

I have used this vendor several times and have never had any issue with their syringes to date. They had a really good sale for repeat customers I jumped on. I'm also not by any chance an expert on any of this, so I'm also not familiar with all the different genus and strains. Hopefully I'll get there!

Yeah, a lot of folks are using AI to help with mundane tasks like writing.  If someone's joy is making syringes for people they probably don't want to be sitting there writing essays.

And they may have copy and pasted it from somebody else's AI generated text. At this point, if you don't do your due diligence, half the internet is enshittified already.

But yeah, the vendor should have proof read that.  Of course I'm assuming they know what they are selling, which they might not.

I think its way more than half! I think it is tough to find things that aren't just a bunch of shit on the net. However, if someone is more into turning out a quality product and the info on it is just a bit off, I'm ok with that to a point.

I recently purchased a new stereo receiver. Fantastic product. Came with a 2 page quick set up manual and a link to a downloadable full manual. The downloadable manual was absolutely worthless. I literally have to figure it all out as I go. Gone are the days where we can include a full manual with products or a proper descrition of things.

I gotta admit that more I read about Psilocybe Natalensis, more confused I get. Someone made enormous mistake getting ochra and nats mixed up and now vast amounts of information is unreliable for common hobbyists. I got interested on nats, but when I acquired prints I wanted Psilocybe Natalensis, not ochra and it took me some time to figure out if my print was actually what I intended to acquire. But after some detective work I found out that this print is from VL, so I am fairly confident that this is what it supposed to be.

Ochra was just 'discovered' when a bunch of mismarked strains were sequenced.  None were nats.

So, a print from VL is most likely still ochra.  Even legends aren't immune to misinformation.  Plus, he's not super involved in the scene right now.  Was doing the family thing when I talked to him. So my suspicion is any print from him would have been before things started to get clarified.

All of that said, grow it out.  But also ochra is an excellent species and everyone was quite happy with it before they found out it was misnamed. Now folks have FOMO and imposter syndrome over something that's going to take them two months to fruit and yield a 10th as much.

Unless you're super interested in sclerotia anyway, or just want a challenge, ochra are still good.

If you've got a vendor selling real nats, lemme know in my PM. Because as of yet I still haven't seen real nats for sale on any vendor site, and I have been looking.

Ochras are what 99% of the vendors are selling as Nats, still, as far as my untrained eye can tell.

But ochras are really easy to grow and pretty potent still so don't be disappointed, i had a lot of fun growing 'em.

They didn't really get big enough to dose. I picked a few of the big ones off and checked for bruising, split one open and it didn't bruise at all. So they might not even be very active

At this point, I'm interested in stones mostly.  And exploring their role in fruit development once I get a good clone going.

Anyway, the tray officially bit the dust today.  As it became apparent that The fruits weren't out running the contaminants and I didn't want to let it keep hanging out in my tent.

Much appreciated that you took the time to respond and share your insights on this matter. I did some more digging around on this spore print origin and what I was able to find was that VL did apparently made donations of all of his spores to FSE after late October what I understood. His words were β€œI will send soon all my prints to the FSE to share them” and that was late October 2024. Day later he clarified that β€œI will try to donate them in coming weeks to the association FSE”. I wanted to ask him about these prints because FSE has Psilocybe Natalensis on their listing and they are donated only by VL.

I would love to explore Ochras and now that I have been reading more of them as well I am actually very interested in them, but to clear up the confusion and straight misinformation would love to get some of the information straightened out before there is too much confusion what is what, because I feel that people should be able to relay the information by these sites. That could potentially be dangerous if you don’t know what you have. Not blaming anyone at any level, but would love to see the community push towards reliable information and spread awareness on this topic.

Maybe I should take a closer look at these spores with microscope to get some better understanding what they are. Would really love either Nats or Ochras, sclerotia was extremely interesting aspect but Ochras in the other hand are very beautiful and elegant mushrooms.

This community is pushing for accuracy and harm reduction.  Hence this thread and many folks on here taking the time to help everyone understand what happened.

If by the community you meant whatever acronym you were using, scope the spores and let them know if they're mislabeled.  The spore sizes are in the video linked several times in this thread.

All of that said, mushroom taxonomy is a mess.  And your comment kind of left me feeling like this was done on purpose when it wasn't.  Someone mixed an undiscovered mushroom that was closely related to cubensies up with another mushroom closely related to cubes from the region.  Mislabeled it and here we are years later realizing the mistake and taking steps to correct it.

And instead of just using your microscope to check the spores when the information is right here in this thread, you come in here acting like you have the real deal instead of checking and then acting upset that there was a mistake that happened.  Like the shroomeey isn't doing it's diligence when you found your way to this thread!?  Or like we are responsible for whatever the vendor you got your spores from labeled them as?

And maybe I will feel bad about venting all of this after I've had a cup of coffee but I'm still waking up and your comment did not land well.

I'm also quitting cigarettes, so a bit short-tempered.  But I did sleep well last night, not having that morning smoke nagging me out of bed.

But yeah, this was irritating to me, regardless of you not 'blaming anyone'.  Because this community is pushing for those things to the best of our ability.

Ahh yes, I remember the day I went from two packs of Winston a day to zero and gave up Pepsi at the same time. My mind was in the game and I never looked back. But damn, I was fucking evil for a while. Stay with it, you got this.

I’m just a noob to the board, but that person has just two posts, and they are both on this thread. Don’t overthink it.

I'm so glad cigarettes are one of the few drugs I never enjoyed. Saved me a lot of headache, and my bro died of cancer thanks to smoking at age 40. I'm 40 now. So it probably would have done me in too at some point in the near future.

Thank God for vapes and weed.
