I colinised a couple of grain jars from a germ plate and spawned those to 2 Ziplocs, and threw them ontop of the fridge to observe while my cleaned up plates went through the process.

Lost one Ziploc to pink, this one grew mycelium about 1/2" to an 1" thick and looks a little funky, but just under 3 weeks after spawning we have pins!

Total newb here...done a couple runs of golden teachers and grew some P. azurescens on wood chips last wiinter that went outside here in the PNW a few months ago.

In the meantime I tried some P. nats!

Germinated spores on MEA agar, T2 into rye berries then into some small shoe box tubs with coir/verm/gypsum. 10 days in sealed tub then 2 weeks FAE. No serious overlay and fruits look happy. Learning.

Little hard to get a good photo through a ziploc bag.

Thick little mushrooms, I was expecting noodles but looking through the thread they come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

I dont know where the guy I got these spores from, got his spores from originally, I have to assume they're Nats the mycelium has behaved as described by Nats growers in this thread and I know their appearance will change as they mature.

Thinking I might be consuming some fresh shrooms this weekend.

Hey, very new to growing. Got my hands on a nat culture and am trying to grow with BRF cakes, but getting some insane overlay.
Think i should just leave them alone and hope for the best?

On the right is a golden teacher cake thats the same size as the nat cakes.

That's a poorly selected culture unfortunately.

On the bright side, the overlay is active

Yea, if you want to eat some foul mushroom afterbirth looking slop. Thats from poor genetics. Ime the spores that made that will likely never produce fruits.

I’ve actually had good results from cultures like that after taking the overlay off. The times I left it they usually took like a month and then grew a handful of mushrooms. I would peel it off and dehydrate it then hope for pins.

I'm done with growing for a while, the summer heat is already here and I've been having some bacterial issues despite clean looking inoculant, so I'll just keep doing agar work. Hoping to use the time off to clean everything up, since I'm not into wasting time and resources on failed shoeboxes. The ones that were successful gave me way more than I can handle anyway.

My last spawn run came out slightly bacterial, I had to throw out 1 box due to mold, 1 box got infested with gnats but it will probably produce several fruits, 1 small 5 l box gave me a successful first flush, and the last spawn jars went into a planter outside since I don't want to deal with them anymore. This was all to test a clone culture, and it seems to be good enough to keep around, although it remains to be tested for potency and cleaned up.

Here's the successful shoebox. I will miss looking at these beauties.

Some nice looking fruits. Mine never stand up straight like that. Got a couple pin clone tubs going right now. Excited to see if theres a significant difference between clone and ms.

My first fruits harvested :mushroom2:

15.2g wet for the biggest I've be taken a clone of that one, 54.4g wet overall.

I had planned on eating all of them this weekend but I'm not so sure after weighing them..... or maybe I should

54g would equate to around 5g dried give or take, are you an experienced psychonaut?

If you are experienced, eat them all. Fresh is best. I'm guessing they are around 4g dry.

2 grams dry was intense enough for me, can’t imagine what more than double that dose fresh would be like
